  2. I think of this with Wilt Chamberlain and Ted Cassidy who played Lurch on The Addams Family and goes with the basketball thread. Cassidy was very smart and played basketball at Stetson and graduated from there then went into broadcasting and later acting. One great factoid was he was a disc jockey at WFAA in Dallas and was on the air when JFK was assassinated and wound up covering the event for WFAA. People remember him playing the harpsichord in his role as Lurch, he actually played the organ and could play the harpsichord, don't if he really did ever on the show.
  3. Wichmannshausen. It's a blip on the road just south of Eschwege.

  5. That's better data. Like I said elsewhere, we need major educational system reform. Seems nowhere on the horizon.
  6. Aggy up 47-42 on Tennessee in Knoxville
  7. Happy Gilmore was the comedy superior movie of that era. There is a very large millennial demographic (that 100% also exists in huge numbers on this site) who made (and continue to somehow beyond all comprehension) loving Dumb and Dumber their whole personality. They were also insufferable Ron Burgundy quoters and loved the Chuck Norris jokes.
  8. My short time in Columbus and the word was Wexner was most def gay and Abigail was his beard.

  10. Our first 3 pairs take the opening sets. It's a little weird Hawaii isn't better at this sport, they have players from everywhere.
  11. Thunder will likely lose the number 1 seed. They're rather be healthy for the playoffs but still.

  13. That’s really cool and a very small world since I’ve never met a non-German who actually knew where it was or had heard of it! Which town was he from?
  14. How many TPUSA endowed professorships can we expect?
  15. There is a reason I posted the quote about empathy not being a zero sum game. I am not trying to get into a tit for tat on who has things worse. As the father of two sons and two daughters, I am very emotionally invested in all of them doing well. There is a clear trend of boys and young men falling further and further behind relative to girls and young women in terms of HS academics, college graduation, entrance into and graduation from graduate and professional schools, and ultimately earning potential. The reasons for these are multi factorial, but way down the list is the idea that many or most of these boys who are falling behind are “mediocre” You may not like Galloway, and I don’t really care for a lot of his bluster, but he does seem to care and I do not think it’s a grift. He has a lot of good things to say regarding why teenage boys and young men are gravitating towards toxic role models and how to combat this trend As far as the education gap (which I believe is a symptom of bigger issues, but is a huge problem in and of itself), this is a pretty good summary. When my eldest graduated HS 4 years ago the top 3 and 9 of the top 10 were girls. Pew Research CenterU.S. women are outpacing men in college completion, inclu...Today, 47% of U.S. women ages 25 to 34 have a bachelor’s degree, compared with 37% of men.

  17. That was an interesting crowd response. Usually you'd get a least a smattering of oh-boy-this-is-gonna-trigger-libs guffaws. He got nothing.
