Just wanted to remind y'all that anti-vax folks are idiots who are bad at math. And it has consequences.
Case in point: the pertussis/whooping cough vaccine is 97% effective. That means, yep, it's 3% INEFFECTIVE, which means that herd immunity is important.
How do I know it's 3% ineffective? Because my teenage son has a case of pertussis. He's had a cough for weeks, and it got so bad recently that we actually had to call 911, as he couldn't breathe (he recovered, we cancelled the call, but got him to the doc posthaste). The doc calls it a "100 day cough." He's vaccinated. But obviously, falls in the 3%. So how did he get it? ODDS ARE, he got it from being exposed to some unvaccinated dipshit sometime last month.
We're lucky he's a strong and healthy 15 year old, not an infant or one of my elderly parents.
But I'm sure your holistic approach of eating avocado pits and rubbing mineral oil on your kid's forehead every full moon is very effective, and it wasn't YOU who is responsible for the spread of a dangerous disease.
There, a stout condemnation, an nice anecdote, and a personal insult to a group of people in general. That's how you start a new thread. Have at it.
