look dude, i understand that the political forum is "the wild west", but in a sea of bad takes and unnecessary obnoxiousness for the sake of theater likely stemming from some sort of irrational fear, this stance from you is horrendous, bordering on offensive.
pete has taken heat from being "privileged", as if it's an awful thing for which he should be punished. we've all already seen it (initially from hillary supporters). yes, he's white and smart and clean-cut and had access to the highest of higher education. but that doesn't mean he hasn't worked hard for it. that doesn't mean he hasn't earned it. i'm not going to punish someone for being intelligent and ambitious and achieving goals in his life. he didn't come from some political dynasty family or some form of american royalty steeped in wealth and tradition. and yes, he's gay.
so what i'm saying basically is - get the fuck out of here with your tired, whiny bullshit.
you support your guy bernie, and that's great. if you took your blinders off for half a second, you would notice that most of the dems on this board do as well, because it's all about the common, shared goal here - 2020. the difference is, we also like some other people, and are interested in learning more about them. whereas you find any chance possible to go spray your diarrhea all over any thread over any topic where you find (in your opinion) a "chink in the armor" as it were.
think of it in terms of sports. we all like football, but there's no need to go over to another teams board/forum/thread and post 3-4x in a row a bunch of nonsensical ramblings - especially when your guy is the front runner. it's fucking obnoxious, and bit by bit, makes this place a shittier destination for actual exchange of thoughts, ideas, and debate about what's going on in the political landscape of our country. i guarantee you over the next 12-18 months, there will be people you scare off and this forum will be weaker for it. shit, i bet it's happened already.
now, back to pete. you brought up the oppression olympics, so don't fault hank for his response. you started the shit, so now you'll eat the shit. there are white people, black people, men, women, jews, christians, and a gay white man in the conversation of 8-10 serious democratic contenders.
a lot of people, myself included, are of the opinion that sexism might be a bigger issue in america right now than racism, as it pertains to things like "being taken seriously for the highest office in the land." but that doesn't mean elizabeth warren's marginalization needs to be compared and contrasted with people of color, or people in same sex marriages. and what about kamala - she's a woman and she's black. so does she win the gold medal? i'm sure i don't need to go through the entire history of what jewish people have been through (maybe just the last couple thousand years will do), but does that mean bernie wins? you are in absolutely no position to compare "what people have gone through" just because they're "famous", "politically powerful", and "hetero-passing." (2/3 of those he had to work for, btw, he's not a kennedy or a bush).
you dismiss pete and his homosexuality because he's polished and seems to have come to terms with it in an open and honest way. after 33 fucking years. and he was not some confused 17 year old in west hollywood figuring out who he was as he eased his way "out" and was greeted with open arms by an established community. he was in a small-ish town in the industrial midwest with people like mike pence in charge. he always had his eye on public life, and thought for a long time he would have to choose one or the other. he struggled with it for decades.
but the thing is, you already know this. because you do watch and you do read, which makes this even fucking worse. you know what you're saying is absolute garbage, and you do it anyway, in hopes that you convince others (but mostly yourself) that your guy is "better". don't think your act is confusing anyone. we've all seen it, every-fucking-day. you stray from your bernie thread, and you pop in here or there to bust chops, or sometimes (gasp) throw a soft (usually back-handed) compliment at one of the other qualified options. beto, warren, pete, probably everyone but biden has gotten the "b_t treatment". you say you like pete, but you cannot fucking wait until someone on twitter posts something halfway disparaging so that you can jump all over it and question his motivations or his strategy. you try to sell your opinions as facts. you're fooling no one.
so yeah dude. i'm really sorry the son of two college professors in indiana was able to achieve higher than most people do, through talent and intellect and drive. i'm sorry that many in the democratic leadership see him as a powerful force in the party for years/decades to come. i'm sorry he's so polished and measured that he's able to keep his cool when being heckled at a rally for a sexual preference he was born into. is warren dealing with sexist protesters? is booker dealing with racist protesters? are they calmly dismissing them with grace and class the way pete has? you seem particularly annoyed and offended that he's been so capable so far. you know what i think? i think he's just getting warmed up.
the democrats have a real problem, which is probably why they lose so god damn always. i think you know what the problem is. and if you don't, see if you can find a mirror nearby. let me know how that goes. until then, sell your shit someplace else. we're all set over here.
