the reason why black lives matter is a thing is because this country has not acted as though black lives matter. we've intentionally enacted policies that disenfranchise black people, give them jail and prison time at a high rate, even for minimal drug possession, segregated them into poor neighborhoods, among probably a dozen other things like getting pulled over for driving while black, and you wonder why they are angry?
a cop shot a guy in the back for unclear reasons. in front of his children. in this day and age where cities are protesting because black lives matter, and now it's cool to be white and carrying an assault rifle at low ready while protests are happening around, and the cops throw him a bottle of water. meanwhile, black people are getting gunned down, choked out, assaulted by cops, and protesters are taking tear gas canisters to the head.
when the system is set up to get you in the system, which it is for many many black folks, you learn to distrust and disrespect the system.
