  1. It’s clear to me immediately that none of you understand the demands of what it takes to get a cosmetology license in the state of Texas.
  2. As an Asian American, is it ok for me to be concerned? Maybe even generate a bit of outcry about it? I don’t want to dismiss your overall point (I think) of why would you care about x and not y... Personally for me it’s the build up of a bunch of little things. And they add up. It’s... Asians often being seen as foreign and not part of this American life, even if we were born here or grew up here. Common example (and believe me this is more annoying than anything), “Where are you from? No I mean where are you really from? It’s the constant... Ho Lee Fuc and shit like that... where it’s just accepted as good fun and totally ok to use e v e r y single time (seriously be more clever people). It’s hearing it called the China Flu not because “that’s where it originated from,” but rather as a way to demonize and blame... All the little superficial stuff adds up, then it’s conditioned and surely it’s ok especially if no one says it’s not... AND that’s what has me concerned and a bit worried... and well a bit pissed off now.

    Congratulations poors.
  4. Reminds me of another old saying we have in Texas: Toby Keith is a dirty fucking sooner who eats dicks by the barrel when he’s not combing his mullet or noodling for catfish.
  5. Ah ... Chip Roy. Born in Maryland. Went to college in Virginia. Moved to Texas when he was 30 years old. Now an expert on "old Texas" sayings.
  6. isn't there some recruiting board thread y'all can fuck up?
  7. My name is "Parliament," and I can relate to this.
  8. I mean UConn hasn’t been to an EE since 2014 and hasn’t been in the tournament since 2016, but you do you.
  9. I am learning I am more a fan of Committing than I am recruiting......
  10. Hot Wheels is a “sitting” governor. [emoji2369]
  11. Tope's mother passed recently, and a compliance-approved GoFundMe has been started to support Tope and his family. https://www.gofundme.com/f/family-relief-fund-for-passing-of-tope-imades-mom
  12. Just venting here, I don't think I'm really prompting any discussion. It's just eating at me like a sonofabitch. It seems that in a matter of not too long -- days? Weeks? -- we'll go from having a house full of critters to an empty house. We've had a nice cichlid fish tank since my daughter was an infant. As fish age out and die, they get replaced, but we've ALWAYS had fish for nearly 20 years. When we lost power, and our house dropped into the 30s....it wiped them out. All of them. Which was sad, but then, they're fish. It sucked, but it's just a thing. We're putting our cat down tomorrow. Long-term heart issues, they've gotten worse, and we're on borrowed time. So, we're putting Shiny down before he ends up dying in a painful cardiac event. The boy is going to be crushed, there's no getting around it. And then, we get to our dog, our black lab. She's had this nagging cough for a couple of months. Nothing huge, but it happens from time to time. Then, about a week ago, she stopped eating her regular food, or at least wouldn't eat as much. Took her in, not a good exam. Ultrasound. Obviously some sort of cancer in her lungs, and fluid build up around them. She's 12. We're not going to put her through surgery, which looks to be the only "treatment" option. So, we're going to talk about ways to make her remaining time more comfortable....and to find out how much time that is. Is it just a few more days? We don't know. Will she be alive when my daughter comes home in 6 weeks? It's not looking good. She loves her animals, it's one of the things she misses the most when she's away. And now, it looks like every last one of her pets is going to die while she is away this semester. It's just a lot. And when layered on to all the other ordinary stresses, and the baseline stress of our personal and work lives during a pandemic, it's a whole fucking lot. And I can't sleep. And I can't stop my mind from spinning at 10,000 RPMs. And this just fucking sucks. It fucking sucks, and I hate that it fucking sucks, and I'm tired of shit that sucks, and fuck this fucking shit.
  13. All you really have to say is that you are buying a timeshare. Always so dramatic.
  14. Got the baby girl out yesterday for some Spring Break action in West Galveston Bay. She caught the biggest trout. Water temp was a nice 75 and much more bait in the shallows than the last couple of weeks.
  15. Live event starting now.
  16. My wife told me that out of all of my brothers, I have the biggest dick.
  17. the fact that a cop can put shit like that on his fb and not immediately be fired is a huge part of the problem.
  18. Then correct those posters rather than make vague insinuations that certain people will ignore the truth for some conspiratorial reason known only to you. You're desperately trying to grab some moral high ground, not because the facts actually matter to you, but because you want to broad brush everyone else as having a mysterious and evil, "liberal" agenda. I deny you that hill. Now go sit in the corner and pout like the poor victimized conservative you want us to believe you are.
  19. I'm wary of the sticklers for detail in situations like this. Facts are always important but it just feels like there's a "we're all victims of the same hate crime" shared sacrifice tone in the response. All lives matter type of bullshit that distracts from problem.

Me neither. I honestly don't need it. Give it to people that do.

I think we should make it so all stimuli comes directly out of Incredulity's bank account.
  22. Knowing that a 70-yo Asian woman went full Hacksaw Jim Duggan on a racist fuckstain makes my day a little better already.
  23. I think we should all take a moment and be grateful that our current President isn't going to say something positive about the killer today.

Conviction is posting my stonk picks on this thread knowing I'll receive holy hell from you gents if things so south. Talk about DD!!

The covid has been very very good to me. Wife and I will be giving most ours to the local family crisis center and/or the local food bank.
  26. Trump, March 2020: I take no responsibility! Trump, March 2021: I demand all the credit!
  27. So I'm fully vaccinated. Technically will be fully effective in 12 days, but whatever. I've been wearing a mask in indoor public spaces for over a year. It's normal now. I have no problem doing it for another few months until we get enough people vaccinated. What is really the problem? Why are people such fucking babies? "Oh noes! I can't take another minute of this horrid piece of cloth over my nose and mouth! FREEDOM!!!!" We are the dumbest fucking species.
  28. I don't like cats. And we found out, after getting Shiny, that I'm actually allergic to them. But I still love him. I've found myself this week taking every spare moment to scratch the sides of his face, to talk to him, to tell him he's been a good cat, a good companion for the boy, and that he did his job and did it well. And every time, I try not to cry. I'm not having great luck with that.
  29. I want to hear their stories. If there's all these DMs and texts, let's see them. Lay the evidence on the table. Skipping the police and waiting months to file multiple civil suits with a PI lawyer who is a shady aggy and preened about it on instagram? Come on, now. Of course Watson could be a pervert. Big Ben is also a pervert. I'd wager most pro athletes are - too much testosterone and too much adoration.
  30. Ha. I've been posting for 23 years on the UT boards and have met a bunch of folks over that time. At various points half-truths and absurdities have made it into dialogue and I've not done much to combat it because it's mostly funny. I can't remember which dude it is that thinks I'm some sort of little person. @SydneyCarton looks a fucking lot like a guy on a series of Whataburger commercials trending towards Jake Busey and @HenryJames is the spitting image of Henry Rollins circa his supporting role in Heat. In any event, I too would like to see a comically fast miniature sumo wrestler. Other people I envision: @Burt Macklin probably looks a lot like John Ratzenberger circa 1986. @texifornia undoubtedly wears a lot of tweed and has sort of a Jonah from Veep thing going on as he ambles around whatever metro he's in looking like a baby giraffe. fatkid54 is the adult version of Chunk, from The Goonies. There are a bunch of foodtards on the food board that are all probably pipe-smoking clowns wearing turtlenecks and eyeing the front desk clerk's rack at the local Half-priced books through their bifocals. sarvanaash looks like a despondent Indian version of Rick Moranis. And so forth.
  31. Fine. Call them terrorists and be done with it.
  32. Pretty good thread, not too long, in which Michael Harriot has a response to Glenn Greenwald's just asking questions routine: Click on the tweet to scroll through his dozen tweet thread reply. It's pretty informative.
  33. Because he clearly didn’t just “have a bad day”, he obviously thought and planned this out for some time. It’d be like if someone said the 9/11 hijackers were just having a bad day and snapped. It’s absolutely excusing/downplaying the act.
  34. Seems like the people he murdered had the bad day.
  35. Is she a substitute English teacher?
  36. The Houstonian huh? Buzbee could learn a thing or two from Watson about not letting crazy golddiggers into your home.
  37. Today would've been Murphy's 10th birthday. He's looking down wishing all you Surly dogs a happy St Paddy's day ☘️
