Outside of originally believing Sarkisian was a terrible hire, I really don't disagree with your sentiments. But I don't see why we need any more data to conclude that this guy is not the right guy here.
1) Texas is going to close 2021 with a 4-8 record, a home loss to Kansas, a blowout loss to ISU, and a 7 game losing streak. This will be the worst season at Texas since 1956. Texas finished that season with an 8 game losing streak and then DKR took over and snapped the streak the following season in game 1 by beating Georgia on the road. This stupid fucker coaching currently better thank God every day that ULM is sandwiched between this season and Alabama in game 2 next year.
2) Recruiting is falling apart. We're all going to hold out hope, I guess, in this thread, but they'll finish with a likely empty set on top targets, with all of them going to schools on UT's future roster every season. This staff looks pretty weak at this aspect of the program, which is, frankly, stunning.
3) The staff overall looks terrible. I was excited by the staff and thought that they might wind up proving the hire of Sarkisian correct in the end. Nope. We all wanted to hope that Coleman would prove himself. He's trash. We assumed PK was solid. Trash. We're not seeing anyone gain much buy-in from the team, and we're not seeing a team getting better.
4) The reality is, this team is getting progressively worse as the season continues. That is a massive red flag regarding the staff. Some clueless fuckers who don't watch other games mocked the notion that Norvell was actually doing better at his gig this year at FSU than what we're seeing. "He lost to Jacksonville State!" Right. Texas just lost to Kansas at home and was down 35-14 at the fucking half. There are numerous programs getting better as the season goes on that we've all gleefully mocked. Tennessee was more competitive with UGa than the score indicates. They've gotten better. FSU. Fucking Arizona. ULaLa. UH. Mississippi State. KSU lost 3 competitive games in a row to OSU, OU, and ISU, recovered, and sits at 7-3. That's what you'd expect a good staff to do. Texas had that same kind of chance.
I'm tired of thinking about it. There is no legitimate defense for Sarkisian and his staff. There are the tired tropes from his fanboys in the media implying that the problem is systemic at Texas and he's heroically dealing with ferreting it out root and branch. That's bullshit to the core. There are the wishcasters who want to point out brief glimpses of offensive hope. There are the pollyannas who plead for more time. None of that is a valid defense. Anyone with a clue watching can see this for what it is - a laughably failed hire that was a reach in the first place. There will be no recovery for this loser from the KU game and the 7 game losing streak to close things out.
But yeah, I get it. We're fucked as fans. We get to sit and watch the next 2 seasons unfold horrifically before we get to witness the next experiment.
