Oliver left us last night. He waited until I got home from the field, brought him to bed, snuggled him, and tucked him in. Then he left. I could sense for the past 10 days that he was saying goodbye. He’s 12 and has been fighting some health issues pretty strong the past few years. I’ve known today was coming for awhile, but it didn’t hurt any less. We got him when we had just moved in together and wanted to figure out if we could handle managing another life. He was our rock as we’ve struggled against infertility and fought for our own family. I’ll miss him so much. This was the last picture taken of him. He drug his rawhide to bed a couple nights ago while I was working late, and my wife had to capture the old diva in his essence and send it to me.
