  1. Took Mrs. Brat to church and will pick her up in an hour, so I’m sitting here alone looking at my late grandson’s stocking hanging on the mantel. First Christmas without him in 30 years. Our middle son and his two boys won’t be here because of illness.
  2. Here's some mega spiked eggnog for you degenerates. Tarp posted a note and added comments which essentially confirmed the worst fears that that rare breed - the aggie that's not deluded - has had: - Fisher will have full control over the OC hire, without interference - he believes his offensive system is fine, and wants to leave it mostly unchanged (me: yay!) - Fisher will have to sign off on any tweaks (me: yessss!!) - will focus on keeping the 2022 class together - thinks it'll be hard to find players of that quality in the portal Here's the whole honey baked ham, and some comments ... Merry Christmas! Some Merry Christmas bits Tarp
  3. It would be great if he died today and gave us all even more reason to celebrate December 25th every year.
  4. Pretty good haul still super jazzed about how this homemade remake of her favorite Thinkery activity turned out for the kiddo
  5. View of the BVI's from our bedroom this morning.
  6. My MIL is attempting to liquor up my SIL in order to get information regarding the deadbeat BIL. This’ll get interesting.
  7. Done. Every year I think it's the last I will have to do this and though I complain I'm going to be very sad when I don't have to do this anymore. Cheers y'all.
  8. @ztejas and @Armybrat shooting the shit about their experience w different weed strands is not something I had on my surly bingo card.
  9. I think this is definitive proof his glasses were already broken.
  10. Merry Christmas
  11. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. Best: new bromance with my son’s FIL. We were at H-E-B buying cilantro the other day and were playing the get to know you 20 questions game. “My guilty pleasure is Kelly Clarkson.” To which he answered, “mine is George Michaels.” Then we agreed that our biggest regret was not attending more RUSH concerts. My son hit the gold mine with his in-laws; they are a blast, all of them. Great family. And the more I get to know my daughter-in-law, the more I love her. That and my stepbrother made the brisket using a recipe first scribbled down in Hebrew centuries ago. It crushes anything cooked in smoke. Worst: 1st Christmas without my dad. We are going to his house for Christmas/Hanukkah brunch with my stepmom. Last night at my stepbro’s house, she looked like you would expect a widow to look on the first Christmas after he soul mate's death. She was staring off into space. Heart-wrenching. Funniest: everyone took off their shoes last night and were comparing feet. My 13 yr old niece looked at her mom’s, grandma’s, and Aunt’s feet and burst into tears and exclaimed, “My feet don’t look Jewish enough!!” Poor kid lost her grandfather and two great-grandfathers this year. Creepiest: took my wife, kids, DIL, wife’s BFF, and her daughter to dinner at a well-known west-end neighborhood restaurant. There’s this guy, in his late fifties that I see around town all the time hanging out in the bar sections of all our local restaurants. He and I have, at best, a nodding acquaintance. Anyway he and his buddies (all nearing 60) are eating at a table near ours, and towards the end of the meal, his friend walks up to my wife’s BFF’s 21-year-old daughter, who graduated from college last week, hands her his friends business card, and says “my friend over there thinks you’re hot, give him a call.” I take the business card, take a photo, and text it to my SIL (they are in the same industry and serve on several committees) with a WTF, this dude is a perve; he just hit on Br** in front of her mom, at my family dinner.” SIL is all, “this will be fun for a long time; I’ll be asking why he interrupts my family’s dinners to hit on young girls, and I’ll wait to ask in the middle of an important board meeting. Probably start calling him Jeff Epstein, too.” Poor girl just sat there with a glazed look in her eyes, muttering, “I cannot believe that just happened. . .” Merry Christmas, everybody. About to wake up the family.

My kids being 19 and 17, I remember fondly but don’t miss one iota having to put shit together like that on Christmas Eve. 17 years ago, after a nice Christmas Eve dinner where the 2.3 year old boy had drank 3 full small cups of Egg Nog by first going to me for one refill and then his mother for the second and subsequently puked all over the table., I began a drunken “let’s put together the red rider tricycle and wagon”. Took over 3 hours mostly because I was housed. the next morning (Christmas) my wife starts complaining that her uterus seems to be contracting, despite being 2 weeks prior to our scheduled c-section. I was excited to see the boy’s reaction to his gifts, but we don’t get very far. I’ve got great video of her next to him where she winces in pain. She calls the doc who exclaims, “OK, head to the hospital, you’re having a baby today.” We looked at each other and we’re like, “uh, no way Doc.” Yes way,. About 3 hours later I got the best Christmas present I ever had or ever will get.
  13. Dearest Family, I hope this letter finds you well. The war on Christmas has entered a 6th bleak long year. The boys and I on the front have been dug in since the pre-Halloween offensive, facing the secular humanists in their trenches. We've been trading artillery barrages for weeks, but this morning we awoke to find the enemy far to our rear. Led by Generals Biden and Obama, the anti-Christmas crusaders have broken through, taken our headquarters... and our messaging. Morale is very low. We remain under heavy shelling by the Kwanzists and Hannukahites. With Christmas cheer ringing out to our rear, some of the boys have begun to doubt if we were ever even fighting anything real, but I remain steadfast and will not fail you, though all I have to comfort me at night are my pictures of Hunter Biden's dong. Please send Christmas cookies. With love, Skeeter
  14. I miss the days of weakside LB, middle LB, and strong side LB
  15. Got to my folks house around 2:30 today. My mom was silently giving me the cold shoulder pretty much all day because she was pissed I didn’t come yesterday. My wife gets a call from her mom saying that deadbeat BIL didn’t show up with my SIL at my in laws house. We head over there after we finished up at my parents house and SIL is very quiet, looking like she’d been crying all day. Come to find out that he yelled, slapped her, etc. prior to them leaving and he decided that he’d rather spend Christmas going to a movie theater. She actually left him at home and came without him. Bravo. Other SIL and boyfriend are also here and their little shit dog is yapping, all up in everybody’s shit. My border collie has just about had enough. We start at 7:30 in the morning. So far, I’ve been given 3 1000 piece puzzles (used and already opened), a few notepads, and a $20 crossword scratch off. It’s like my in laws just like to give shit away rather than throw it in the trash.
  16. Uncle zepol saving the day. I got a bottle of Evan Williams and he's going to spend the night and we are gonna play fortnite. Definitely doesn't make up for missing the game especially when the his ticket was in his stocking and it's his first game but hopefully he doesn't remember
  17. Sitting in my chair watching my family prepare our traditional New Mexican Christmas dinner. Carne adovada, green chilé chicken enchiladas, tamales, frijoles, guacamole, taquitos, calabacitas, papas, tortillas. Oldest is married, SIL studying paramedic stuff (he’s former SF, current firefighter/paramedic). Middle daughter gets married this March, great guy. Son gets married in May, great young woman. Nice, easy conversation. Calm, no drama, sorry to bring down the spirit of the thread. I’m just overwhelmingly blessed as I sit here. Hope I get a grandkid or two in the next year.
  18. Well everything turned out great and fun, even if it was regarded at times. Loaded up at Walmart Super Center and figured out why not start here. Things went well although some parents were s little apprehensive. 30 minutes later we were asked to leave as what we were doing was against store policy, lol. So next, we figured we'd continue our attack at the Walmart Neighborhood Market. Being a smaller store with less customers we made it through with no problem. Then we hit University Mall, which was nearly deserted and it went unencumbered. Then quick runs through Brookshire Bros. and Kroger. The candy canes went further than I expected because I guess a lot of parents left their children at home so they could finish up last minute Chritmas shopping. It was a fun and satisfying experience, but in a way kind of sad. I guess our world has gone so far downhill alot of people panic when approached with a gesture of good will, oh well. Merry Christmas, we don't regret a thing.
  19. Wow, they are so cheap they even get a Knock off Mariah Carey.
  20. It’s weird. Every time they find a guy interested, he wants his job description in writing and attached as an exhibit to the contract. Then the talks break down and Jimbo shockingly didn’t offer.
  21. While Abbott is busing north, a bus this past Thursday was headed towards Mexico from Wisconsin, carrying people down to visit their families for the holidays. 40 passengers, mainly men, but a few women and children too. That was the night the Norther first blew in. Their bus broke down outside of Greenville in Hunt Co. They were off the bus looking for a solution and walking to find shelter. A local pastor and his wife took them in and housed the whole group somehow. The women and children inside the house and the men in a heated outbuilding. A call went out for food and money to help them and the local Dems soon had a pickup full of food and the part for the bus had been found. But it wasn't the right one. So they kept at it. I got word this afternoon the bus was back on the road, headed south again. Fuck you Greg Abbott.
  22. Sorry Brat. I didn't get to be around either of my grandfathers but I feel fortunate to get a high quality sampling of grandfatherly humor / wisdom out of your posts on here. Hoping you and Mrs. Brat still have a very Merry Christmas.

To all you mother fuckers, cocksuckers, and the ladies in between. To those I love to hate, and hate to love. Here we are, another trip around the sun please. Merry Christmas errybody. ❤️🎄❤️
  26. Today I learned that Abbott purports to be a Catholic. I cannot think of a thing more blasphemous than sending refugee men, women, and children to a distant place with no shelter on a cold Christmas Eve. He should be excommunicated.

  33. HO HO HO, I come bearing gifts as i'll be away tomorrow.
  34. Kiddos brought us goodies from their overseas abodes. Bottle of scotch from the boy in Glasgow, of course. And from the girl in Sweden, lots of stuff - soup mixes, cookies, and I made this little snack tray to tide us over between brunch and dinner: Did you get the KING of Swedish cheeses, blue cheese in a tube, fish roe in a tube, and THREE kinds of herring with an antique herring jar to store it in? Yeah, I thought not.
  35. Merry Christmas to all you life long astros fans. Drink up and celebrate our Astros winning another world series.

  38. Yes, as Christmas neared, it revved up into high gear. Personally being in and out of the hospital we are limiting everything to our little immediate foursome. In many respects it’s perfect and all I’d ever want, but a large family gathering does sound nice.

  41. Gotta love Surly turning an Eagles/Cowboys thread into a discussion about the Texas defense and the B12's decision to create a conference championship game. It's honestly incredible.
