You are thinking about this wrong. The problem isn't Trump, the problem is the continual degradation of common truth.
If we, as society, can no longer agree on any shared truths, then we cannot exist as a society. For example, half of the country still believes a lie that the election is stolen, even though over 70 court cases proved this lie untrue. The same can be said for the Pandemic. It didn't matter what the science says, many believed the lies, and thus more people died.
Two things are contributing to this degradation of truth. The guardrails of truth has been torn down.
1. The Degradation of News Media - Fox News can lie with impunity (unless it's against a company with money to sue). They can spew nazi propoganda lies 247 under the guise of "news". Without any legal consequences.
2. The Internet amazingly gives everyone access to unlimited information. Which is great. But, It also gives everyone access to disinformation. People are stupid, and thus not shockingly, will believe what they want to believe. This has made truth whatever you want it to be.
