  1. Boy, those guys think we care a lot more about Micah Hudson than any of us do. That guy said he could write a book about that recruitment, and I think he just did. Geez. I stopped reading that section in order to avoid nap time. Otherwise, there were some interesting snippets. I'll add some more color to a few of the names: -Texas would have had their pick of any QB in the 2024 cycle had they not landed Manning in the 2023 cycle. I think it worked out better for Texas. Manning is a better prospect than any of the guys in the 2024 cycle and Owens is a damned good recruit for this cycle and the QB room. -Once Texas felt like Clark was a legitimate candidate for the class, their work was done with TB and they effectively stopped trying to do much with the in-state guys. -Missouri tried all kinds of shit to land Wingo, from guilt, to lying about NIL capabilities, you name it. That family absolutely made it interesting in the end, no matter what the 247 guys are saying. -Livingstone is the guy that visited an ATM practice and then spent time with the players and saw all of the guys, led by Stewart, smoking weed and skipping classes while the coaches openly fought on the field. -Calhoun was a legitimate target for Texas and Georgia shut that down before the visit by playing the old school bag game. The one spot where it can still win out is when someone puts 6 figures into a gym bag and hands it to the family or handler and says "take it now and shut things down or we're giving this to someone else". Doesn't work in every recruitment, it's illegal as hell, and there's only so much of that to go around, but Georgia still will do with a local and Auburn seems like that's they're preferred approach. -The story I told about Kibble at the time is refreshingly straightforward in their report. Texas basically said "take this spot or we need to part ways" and the dude locked in. -Carter thought he should have the same NIL outlook as his teammate, Baker, and ultimately only Auburn was valuing IOL that way.

Today... 😋 Monday: No Big 12 Teams on Future Schedule By Bobby Burton 51 minutes ago It should come as little surprise, but for those thinking that Texas may attempt to rekindle a game with Texas Tech, Baylor, or any other Big 12 team soon, I am told don't hold your breath. According to a high-ranking university source, the riff between Texas and the Big 12 has not ebbed in recent months, even if it is no longer a major topic within the athletic department. Brett Yormark's public pre-season comments in Lubbock and those of deputy Big 12 commissioner Tim Weiser on radio row at Big 12 media days still echo in the memories of Texas power brokers. Those words and actions have swayed the current University of Texas athletic leadership to no longer genuinely contemplate playing any former Big 12 school in football or basketball. Not for the foreseeable future. When Texas (and Oklahoma) first accepted the invitation to move into the SEC, Tech attempted to publicly negotiate an agreement with the Horns to continue playing an annual football game. The Red Raiders can now put those plans in the rear-view mirror. "It's just not going to happen," the source said of any Big 12 teams on the future schedule in football or basketball. "The Big 12 made their bed." The attitude of others toward Texas apparently plays a role in that decision. "We're the bad guys," the source said. "We're always the bad guys when all we want is what's best for us. Any one of them would have done the same if they had gotten the invite (to the SEC) that we did."
  4. You don't HAVE to post every stupid thought that rattles around in that head of yours.
  5. Good stuff. -Bo Davis really wasn't super excited about McKinley. Both of those guys winding up at LSU will be interesting. I hope Bo doesn't yell too much. -Jayden Jackson's agent told people that he was a $600k guy early on. No one confirmed that for him. Ultimately, OU decided they had to have him and went in with a presentation that both Ohio State and Texas heard about and said "yeah, you should go there if that's their offer" and never looked back. -The story isn't that dissimilar to the TJ Lindsey-to-Auburn recruitment. -Texas felt like they were fine letting Becton head elsewhere. -Okoye was a home school guy and folks who met him referenced a "weird vibe" about the guy. It will be interesting to see how he works out for the sooners. -The entire Selman Bridges paragraph could be summed up like this: "He wanted to be the main priority at CB and he was going to be like the 5th DB in the class for Texas. He would rather go to a program that is in free fall because of the promise for early playing time was more important than being developed at Texas." -Gipson had a bad knee injury this year. Clemson is going to have to develop that absolute shit out of that guy. Good luck to both sides. I'm glad he did not wind up in UT's class. One of the more hilarious misses by Nahlin in a long line of misses. His meltdown on that one was gold. -You can see these guys really squinting to try to see why Texas didn't land Bussey. Other than Sarkisian being a little bit of a starfucker, Texas never made a strong push and liked other players better. -Aeryn Hampton profiles as a predictable bust. This was a class in which Texas really did have many solid options and in many instances, decided to punt. Obviously some of those guys will work out. I'm interested in seeing how well it goes for everyone, because I think Texas got a lot of things right in this cycle.

  10. In any case, I had my two tween girls sit and watch an entire football game with me and ask questions about the rules and positions. Taylor Swift did that, so fuck the haters.
  11. So do you also hold fans of sports teams to that criteria? If so, you should fucking hate the Yankees.
  12. Great game. Mostly because my daughters (12 and 15) and my sons’ girlfriends (20 and 21) were engaged and asking me questions the entire game. The party we were at was a lot of fun because everyone actually cared about the game. I know the biggest reason my girls wanted to watch was because of Swift/Kelce. And I am 100% okay with that. Watching my favorite sport with my daughters was unforgettable. Thank you Taylor Swift!
  13. This is just stupidity. I don’t follow her music but you don’t just waltz into big record deals at 14 and get ordained a superstar. You have to have serious talent, and you have to be an entertainer genetically. It’s fucking hard work and the odds of actually putting together a sustainable long career are infinitesimal. I was in the music business in college in Memphis. The band made more money doing demo records for aspiring singers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays than playing bars on weekends. Every girl singer in town was either funded by wealthy parents or had hustled a local rich couple or two to bankroll them. The white ones all wanted to be Crystal Gayle or Tanya Tucker, the black ones Carla Thomas or Diana Ross. Most had years of voice lessons or pageant work. We’d do a few songs at a studio with the singer and charge an inflated fee, send her home then we’d get the excess studio time for ourselves. That band has continued to work forty years later but despite them having a bankroll none made it past a gut wrenching trip of rejection in Nashville or LA. The typical common issue: they could sing but couldn’t entertain. You either got it or you don’t.

He's so incredible and he's not even reached his peak.
