  4. First comment is "Can he fit in the portal" Damn!
  5. This is absolute bullshit, of course. Say what you will about their biases and agendas--and there's much to be said--but they are at least liable for what they report. They have source-vetting and legal teams behind them, telling them what are and are not allowed to imply. Their companies can be sued for three-quarters of a billion dollars if they flat out knowingly lie. Twitter journalists aren't bound by any such burden of proof. Which, not surprisingly, is largely why Sack is a frequent purveyor of said "news".
  6. Not letting this drop down in the forum list. Fuck Russia!!
  7. No dude. They aren’t comparable that’s the point. The point isn’t that they both suck and one just sucks less. It’s that one is an actual bad person, who does bad things, with ill intent and nothing but personal gain in mind. The other is just a lifelong politician. They are categorically not the same. Trump is a through and through bad person. The only praise he offers is inflammatory and in support of oppression, pain and suffering. Seriously the guy cannot even muster the ability to wish everyone everywhere a happy holiday.
  8. when everyone is telling you that you are being crazy, you're probably being crazy and should take a step back sorry yall. end of the month stress got to me. misplaced frustration all around. special apology to @SydneyCarton for my prickly defensiveness
  9. Well Cinco de Mayo has certainly taken a weird twist. I did not have "From the River to the Sea, Are the Chips & Salsa Free?" on my 2024 Geopolitical Bingo Card.
  10. Charging for chips and salsa is most certainly protest worthy.
  11. The problems with traditional journalism are mostly structural and largely result from basic capitalist incentives applicable to any private business. Johnny thinks they're all just paid propagandists because the non-traditional ones he likes actually are.
  12. My man youre literally citing people with "propagandist" in their Twitter profile lol

  14. Probably time for us to have a thread/discussion on this topic as things get worse and worse. I'm late 40s, would be described as very liberal by others. I haven't consumed any news from TV in 4-5 years. No CNN, No Fox, no local news, none of it. For the last 10-15 years I've used Twitter as a news feed and followed verified journalists to consume info (as well as general entertainment/sports/comedic accounts) That includes people like Glenn Greenwald, who I don't like and generally don't agree with, but I want to be challenged with viewpoints and don't want to get stuck in an echo chamber. Since Elon purchased Twitter and boosted the idea of "citizen" journalism, the app has become almost unusable. It's also where the vast majority of this bullshit "journalism" is being published. Trying to get genuine info on the protests going on right now around the country is practically impossible. Here are the biggest issues IMO. 1. Elon Musk - This guy is simply a dumbass regarding anything outside of technology. Allowing anyone to be verified on Twitter was a massive error. 2. Monetization on Twitter - Fatal mistake and the complete downfall of the app. People will do and say anything to make money. Bot impressions also boost these disingenuous posts. 3. Engagement farming - Someone posts a video, then 100s of other accounts take the video and post it themselves to make money and grab more engagement. They flood the zone. 4. The algorithm - Holy shit, it's dangerous. Are real journalists perfect? Of course not. Lots of issues with classic media. But putting reporting it into the hands of "the people", who mostly have no ethical/moral standards and see a massive opportunity to gain popularity and money, is an absolute disaster.
  15. Trump could -- and probably should -- go down as the worst American the world has ever seen (and believe me, we've had some real shit-birds). I say that without any hint of hyperbole. He's a convicted rapist, a business cheat his entire life, a serial philanderer and would like to destroy 250+ years of American Democracy and become president/dictator-for-life. Biden has his issues but they pale in comparison to the wart-infested orange pustule that he's running against. That Biden isn't 20 points clear of this asshole is a grotesque statement of where this country currently sits.

  29. Don't take this the wrong way, but you are one seriously stupid individual.
  30. Your first post plus this one to back it up are really not good. Your point of Joe Biden being a piece of shit politician and bullshit artist are completely drowned out by comparing him to Trump, who is not a lifelong politician. Trump is in every way incomparable to Biden on this front. Trump actually, on live TV that nearly everyone in the US watched daily to hear the leader of the country give an update on the life altering global pandemic that was happening said to inject bleach because it kills covid. That’s a supreme level of stupid we will never surpass and is a fair and fine representation of the standard communication and messaging from him, it’s not an outlier it’s the norm. Biden has some moments in sure he has been caught bullshitting or pandering. He’s a politician it’s part of the game and he’s played it for longer than damn near everyone alive at this point, but you miss the point that he RETIRED. HE DIDNT WANT TO DO ANY OF THIS SHIT. Imagine being in Joe Bidens position right now where all he wants to do is be senile eat ice cream and creepily smell his grandkids heads, but no some lunatic wants to actually name himself dictator so he has to come out of retirement to win an election with his mush brain to save America from itself because no one else in the Democratic Party can actually swallow the shit pill of being president of everyone, not just the people that voted for him. Hillary Clinton’s deplorables comment is a good representation of why most democratic candidates put forward are incapable of doing what Joe Biden did. Joe Biden has yet to reject anything but the negative ideals that some people may support and hasn’t outright rejected any American in any of his campaigning, to do that in a country of 300M+ there is a requirement to pander. I’d bet a ton of money on Joe Biden being absolutely fucking miserable, but feeling a sense of duty and responsibility to the country that he’s seen do so much good in his life that he’s going to fucking die in office instead of in obscurity with his family. Joe was doing what everyone wants trump to do. Fuck off, but because trump is a piece of shit human and the biggest attention whore of modern times we can’t just have a normal election based on pandering and politics.
