  1. in 8 days we’re all going to be very thankful for the 19th Amendment.
  2. On my flight this morning, was talking with the dude in my row (we were basically same age). Topic was business, the economy, which turned to politics. He said to me he couldn’t get behind Harris because she wants to tax unrealized gains in 401Ks. Me: ?????? “Its true, look it up.” I break out my IPad and take advantage of the 1 out of 3 SWA flights WiFi is working on. ”You mean the proposal aimed at individuals with over $200MM in assets? (Shows him table). “If you have that kind of money, why you flying SWA?” Silence. ”Think the Yankees gonna get swept?”
  3. I like Galveston fine, but I hope PR never hires your ass for their tourism board. “It’s like Galveston, but you have to fly there!” Ooof.
  4. Let me put that in terms we all can understand: "Immamac is building a common-sense coalition of Helobious, Derka, TxTow, and Mr. Phlegm to be the brain trust of Surly."
  5. JFC trying to big league the sitting Vice President of the United States. What a bitch
  6. " I was calling out a single person's actions as garbage you fucking deplorables." - Joe Biden
  7. Anecdotal but we know a wife of a GOP voter who isn't telling her husband her intention to vote for Harris. We know another couple who are getting divorced over this. Anyone who thinks this isn't a thing is in denial and needs an education.
  8. One Week out, RNC Chair Michael Watley is "cautiously optimistic." And now take a deep breath and prepare your mind to be blown
  9. Oh look they caught the guy who was setting fire to ballot collection boxes in AZ I thought it was ANTIFA????
  10. If she can hold her own? Former prosecutor, California AG, VP. Hold her own against Joe fucking Rogan? Holy shit that’s funny
  11. Susquehanna poll of Michigan: Harris 🔵 52% Trump 🔴 47% 0.5% undecided.
  12. We've got friends that are Puerto Ricans here in Austin (both of them are here because of work), they were born and raised in Puerto Rico, met and married there, and their kids were born there, and they go back every chance they get. We've known them for five years, have camped with them, done a lot of kid-related activities with them, and I've never heard anything out of either one of them about politics. A quick peek at the husbands Facebook from the past 5 years or so shows nothing political. That changed in the past 24 hours. He's furious, he's calling on a lot of his relatives and friends to vote against Trump, he's reposted the video, he even posted the Vance video, and he's getting a lot of responses (and his wife has said her piece). They are even bringing up videos during the hurricane response, etc. That's just one couple, but I imagine that there are a lot of these conversations happening right now among a lot of Puerto Ricans. Is it enough to have an impact? When you have some of the top Catholics in Puerto Rico and the head of the Puerto Rican GOP calling on Trump to personally apologize...I have to think that carries a lot of weight.
  13. “Looks like Yoda with AIDS” lol
  14. Philadelphia Inquirer ain’t no pussies. Endorsing Kamala. https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/editorials/a/endorsement-president-kamala-harris-democracy-20241025.html?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2lnuO1noZMPzlLcfRipZVTFvZohnq6MFfts8ofYH24FUS5mKLuBk_pTZk_aem_WrttyvLOVg3dENDYZnByzg
  15. I’m confident we are united in purpose, and there’s no need to prove your vote to me or anyone else. But I hope every strong voice on this message board is also out voting, putting words into action. It’s not enough to just vent here. This board has members from all over the country, and every single vote matters in sending a message that rejects fascism in America.
  16. LOL. Even if Hinchcliffe never spoke, the whole night was a freakshow hate parade. People who focus solely on what he said are missing the point.
  17. To be clear, he was personally calling you garbage.
  18. Good job here by Bernie to spell it out for those who don't want to vote for Kamala because of Gaza.
  19. i mean what if your political beliefs have always pretty much aligned...until the last few years when one side really just crossed a line for you personally? that ad is great in that i suspect there is A LOT of that going on, especially in certain places.
  20. I can't take any more of this shit. Please, God, let this be the last week I have to worry about that dumbass scoundrel Donald Trump.
  21. Translation for you: If you think Puerto Rico and the American citizens who live there and are from there are less than you and the island is garbage, you are the garbage.
  22. My attempt at early in person voting was a bust. Had to be 300 people in line. 4th day of early in person availability, 30 minutes after polls opened. I had an appointment across town at 10 and I don't think I'll have another opportunity to go this week. I'll be slumming it with everyone else next Tuesday. Location - bright blue Troy, MI.
  23. Here's the thing about the people complaining about grocery prices: they're morons. They complain about the cost of things, but you can't help but notice they all drive a new car, they all have the newest phone, they all have the newest TV. They spend globs of money on unnecessary shit they don't need then have the gall to complain about how much shit costs. For them, it's never about cutting their own costs. It's everyone else's fault that they can't seem to save any money.
  24. Days since last game against UGA
  25. What a ridiculous way to elect a president.
  26. Lame duck Biden should do a heel tour of all the red states starting in a few weeks. Call people garbage and idiots, shit on their teams, the whole nine yards.
  27. I voted for Nikki Haley in the Feb. 27 primary in part to move the Republican Party past Donald Trump. She received 296,200 votes — 27 percent of the primary votes — at a time when it was clear that Trump was likely going to be the party’s nominee. Many of those 296,200 voters will not vote for Trump on Tuesday; I am one of them. Donald Trump and JD Vance don’t advocate for the values of the Republican Party I once knew. https://www.lansingcitypulse.com/stories/i-was-the-director-of-the-michigan-republican-party-i-will-vote-for-kamala-harris,115386
  28. I’ve never voted democrat (skipped last 2 presidential as my own protest) but voted straight democrat this time with my daughter.
  29. Drove up to Denton and back on Saturday to pick up my son. Took him to the Wilco Annex on Old Settlers on Sunday. We waited about 30 minutes. Then, I drove him back to Denton, dropped him off, and came back that night. I guess you could say it took us 30 minutes to vote, or it took me 12 hours and 30 minutes to vote. Either way, I got to spend time with The Boy and got to be there for his first time voting. Totally worth it.
  30. I'm tired of everything being reacted to with "this is huge". It's up there with "_____ just destroyed Trump".
  31. I didn't expect to open the thread this morning and be confronted by so many nattering nabobs of negativism. Stand up straight with your chest out. Kamala Harris is going to win and it won't be particularly close. Is it the large rallies? No. But yes. They tell me about voter enthusiasm and likely voters. Is it the canvassing operations and volunteers? Yes. Is it individual donations? Yes. Is it because even the credible polls are absolutely worthless and should be ignored unless there's a large sample AND large spread surpassing the margin of error? Absolutely. Do the pollsters themselves know this? You betcha. There's a post in here of even Nate Cohn acknowledging his operation is oversampling R's. Are the polls knowingly ignoring new registrants, overwhelmingly voting for Kamala, and among the most likely to go out and vote? Fuck yes. Ignore the fucking polls and go vote. Sign up for a phone bank. Tell your friends and neighbors to vote. left one out - Women are voting in much higher frequency and not only are there more women voters than men overall, those that are voting are overwhelmingly voting for Harris. Harris has made it clear to women to vote why they need to vote, and they're doing so.
  32. I don't think that is ever going to go away for Democrats. Ever.
