  1. I hate Hitler, but damn this Stuka gets good gas mileage.
  2. I don't get why this has to be so divisive. Maybe we should compromise on a name in English AND Spanish.
  3. One of many reasons you do not hear much coming from TOF for media is this right here. TOF gets a shit ton of media requests. Walk softly and carry a $25+M payroll, I always say. Ohio State idiots can't shut the fuck up, for whatever reason.
  4. CRS is a little-known gem of the government. It’s got to be surreal working for them. All these smart and great researchers engaged in the Sisyphean task of producing nuanced and thoughtful analyses for idiots who will promptly ignore it.
  5. Can we get Douche tags for people who say "natty"?

  8. Ahead of the first Junior Day and with things being really early, I'm posting my predictions on the class. It's freaking January, so usually, with this much time between now and December, the final list looks way different. Still entertaining and funny later in review though. Total class rank: 3rd QB (1): Dia Bell TB (2): Javian Osborne, KJ Edwards WR (3): Kaydon Finley, Naeem Burroughs, James Scott TE (1): Tayfuk Ifino OT (2): John Turntine III, Max Wright IOL (3): Toa Katoa, Nicolas Robertson, Zaden Krempin Edge (2): Jamarion Carlton, Kevin Ford, JR DT (4): Dylan Berymon, Jaimeon Winfield, Tika Hola, Bryce Perry Wright LB (3): Kosi Okpala, Anthony Davis, Xavier Griffin CB (2): Jalen Lott, Unknowny McUnknownster S/NB (3): Donovan Webb, Chace Calicut, Isaiah Williams I think Texas gets 2-3 commitments from this weekend, with Robertson being one of them.

man...i don't even know what thread to put this one in...i'm pretty disturbed by it tbh, prolly cause it's on the heals of several other things... one, the conversation with my French friend i shared in the international thread, depressed the hell out of me cuz in the end you kind of still hope 'maybe it's just us, maybe we see too much of the minutiae so our view is skewed'. turns out nope, the world is indeed watching in horror/glee. two, without providing too much detail for the law enforcement monitoring this board (🖕), currently assisting in a situation with a young woman who traveled many miles to get access to a service that is freely available where i live but recently outlawed where she lives. been a few fun conversations around CYA and what not to say and to whom, and changing phone numbers to escape harassment from a party that does not want her accessing said service...and being aware that said party can report her, and the friend that rode with her, for a literal bounty, and making sure there is actually no proof of anything anywhere...and, you know, all of that. fun. there's something about the dawning horror of realizing what the conversation you are having actually means in terms of being a female citizen of the US in 2025. and now...just had a puppy playdate with a new friend here, who...i can't even really unpack this one. she is nice, i like her, our dogs adore each other, politics just doesn't come up, as it shouldn't and used to be, right...and she advises she was diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 breast cancer three weeks ago. so she has an oncology team, and is getting a second opinion but is, at least as of now, planning to follow recommendations for the chemo/radiation then surgery treatment protocol. maybe. because... ...she's also going next month to a facility in AZ for eastern/holistic treatment. and she's started giving herself ivermectin already, and some other crap i never heard of, Mel Gibson said it worked. and thankfully Trump is in office now b/c RFK will 'open up' access to all kinds of alternative treatments. and did i mention she got laid off about 3 months ago and hasn't found a new job yet? so no insurance...but thankfully she qualified for...you know where this is going...Medicaid and so far she hasn't received a single bill! yay. i mean, i got in the car and started crying b/c one, that totally sucks, and also EVERYTHING ELSE IN THAT INSANE CONVERSATION. what is even happening😖it's an honest to god struggle to even know anything to say in response. i just kept falling back on 'uh, well...oh i am just so sorry!!' and hugging her. TL/DR - the past 24 hours basically:

  19. Except.... This. Elon is a nazi. Today. Right now. Every measure of support for him -- financially or otherwise -- is advancing a live-and-well psychopathic nazi cause. And note that I also agree with.... ...this. You have a sunk cost. Other than the minute addition to brand presence of seeing the Tesla logo on the road, you aren't contributing to anyone you know is a nazi. Honestly, put a sticker on your car that says "I bought it before I knew he was a nazi piece of shit," and you likely negate any positive branding he gets from your car being on the road today. Also, recommend against anyone else ever, ever, ever putting a dime of money in Elon's pocket for ANY product.
  20. He knew what he was doing and he’s a piece of shit for doing it. That said, my response to you guys for continuing to conflate my appreciation for the vehicle and the technology with praise and support for Musk:

  25. I can make a legitimate case for tariffs and national security for some things, if we're talking about an exercise in good faith. You want to slap tariffs on China for electronics, to force American companies to manufacture everything start to finish here in the US, to prevent China from putting in codes and listenting devices into fucking everything and spying on us, and preventing them from constantly tealing our intellectual property? Well ok. You want to force companies to move supply chain for pharmacitcals here, in case we go to war with someone who produces 90% of our insulin, as a simple illustration? Sure. The idea is to spur domestic production of things that could be a real problem if one day the US woke up and didn't have access to things anymore. But the Republican Party isn't interested in actually playing this game/exercise in good faith. Otherwise they wouldn't be fucking talking about rescinding the motherfucking CHIPS act. It's about placating their orange diety, grifting, throwing a tantrum, or all 3.
  26. The entire United States of America experiment is generally based on the notion of a balance between pooled resources and specialized resources being deployed to provide the maximum advantages while doing the best to minimize risks for its citizens. Is that balance always perfectly struck and administered? Of course not. But, if your solution to that problem is to slowly dismantle most of the pooled resources, in favor of the specialized ones I guess I gotta ask....why are we united?
  27. A few updates from GH: Texas is recruiting this guy in Bama. 30. Doublethink is to know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself—that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed.

  37. Great to see you guys again!!! Going days without new info has been an unpleasant withdrawal. I’m liking the more frequent strikes on the refineries, air bases, oil depots, and weapons plants. The cumulative impact of these random strikes over the years has to be getting to the point that repairs/replacement of the facilities, along with sanctions on materials, are making those repairs less frequent and less effective. Still, too little, too late. Maybe. No CR, but anything said by anybody 3 years ago has no bearing on what happens tomorrow. I’m choosing to read the tea leaves I like. Rubio was only a mouthpiece, but I really liked the way he delivered the US intelligence briefings leading up to the invasion. I’m betting he has as good an understanding on Ukraine and Russia as anybody, and his understanding has influence within the new administration. A few things that have transpired since Trump 1.0. Russia went from the 2nd Army of the world with a thumb on the scale to a sawed off thug with a bunch of natural resources, and nukes. And the Tech companies went from the scourge of society to the choice seats at the inauguration of Trump 2.0. Trump has the company of the really smart guys, and they may be a bunch of dickheads, but they are really smart. They also make, and have, a lot of money, which drives the economy. That train keeps moving down the tracks until a bigger shooting war derails it. We’ve seen more pictures of more nations with war ships than any time in my life. There’s a lot of shit bubbling up in every corner of the globe. A fucking Russian spy ship cruising in the English Channel, with a sneak and peak from a UK nuclear submarine? The EU stated they would pay the US for the US weapons Ukraine needs. That’s a big win-win. The US doesn’t need “Drill, baby drill”, but Europe certainly does. That works too. Reaching out to the Saudi’s is out of the Reagan playbook. All gas, Fuck them brakes. Most people acknowledge that Trump 1.0 was right; Europe needs to be able to take care of themselves. Don’t pull the chair out from under them. Deposit their checks and give them the “Made in America” things they want. Coupling a ramped up defense industry and a boost to the O&G sector with an already strong economy would appear to be a no brainer. Right now the world is waiting to see what the US (Trump 2.0) does. Crawling back to our little sand box doesn’t look like the right choice. Here’s to hoping he chooses wisely.
