  1. IT says Derek Williams may not portal out now that Akina is gone.
  2. Muschamp was instrumental in signing multiple high 4 star and 5 star defensive players after the bag game had become a useful tool for multiple other programs. Those guys signed and played at Texas for free. Yet there are people here knocking him as a recruiter and evaluator of talent. Muschamp was critical for pushing Georgia over the top in their title runs with some of the best defenses in modern history and he was Saban’s defensive protege who Saban still counts among his close friends in the coaching world. Yet there are people here knocking his coaching acumen.
  3. I would push my mother in traffic so you, BO&W and a few others portal to aggy already
  4. Focusing on both offense and defense, often referred to as “head coaching”.
  5. Keep it saying it, and you’ll keep being wrong. Sarkisian is not on the hot seat. He didn’t fire anyone due to pressure and he won’t be doing that any time soon. People are unhappy with his off field transgressions and he knows it, but he’s not being threatened due to performance. The guy just went to two semifinals and this year they were a candidate for the playoffs even with 3 losses. Coaches not on the hot seat replace coordinators all the time and you guys are fucking clowns for arguing otherwise.
  6. Wadlington summed it up well on IT Head coaches do other stuff than just the 3+ hours on game day. Sark also calls an offense, runs at a pace, and has a roster construction that's decidedly pro defense. The idea that's he's a circa 2000 Air Raid bro who only cares about putting up points is utterly vapid. He'd rather win a game 34-13 than 56-35 and that's obvious to anyone who cares to notice. He wants a DC who can be the head coach of the defense to actually free him not only game day but in the actual operation of the program. Not having to sweat whether he made the perfect complementary and assertive quasi-DC DB coaching hires to help his titular DC who can't solve the back end by himself was an obvious burden.
  7. I got great news this morning - I AM CANCER-FREE!

    That was quick.
  9. Wish nothing but the best for PK going forward.
  10. The Epstein files are the only thing Trump has ever taken his name off of.
  11. You sell yourself short. You have a good mind. I've got some inside knowledge. I gave almost 500k last year no strings and no brag - I have MS so i'm dying either way. I think your thoughts matter, sir. And I like to hear them, friend.
  12. I've met a few aggy this fall from various functions with my wife's work and daughter's dance team. One thing that stands out is that they IMMEDIATELY question whether you actually went to UT or not. Like it's some sort of flex that their only fans are alumni (which isn't even remotely true anyways). This lady at my wife's christmas party challenged me about it by saying "do YOU have a ring?" and I told her that "No, only high school kids and aggies wear class rings".
  13. I worked 3 jobs , at least 1/2 of the holidays and weekends included, to make ends meet , for most of my three kids high school and junior high years. When I dropped the oldest off at college , it felt like I was at his funeral , because I wasn’t around enough. 20 years later , it still hurts. Did what I had to I guess, but I so wish it wasn’t so.

Yup, and in high school. They went to the Pentecostal and jehova witness churches in Gainesville. This is also true:

Remember the end of Braveheart, when the princess whispers in the king's ear, "You see? Death comes to us all. But before it comes to you, know this: your blood dies with you. A child who is not of your line grows in my belly. Your son will not sit long on the throne. I swear it." And then that look of realization from the king, but he can't do anything about it? I like that part. Also, Sophie Marceau is pretty.

Too many kids were taught govt / history by coaches that didn’t give two shits about either.

Good to see that Mitch from Real Genius is still with us
  18. Mateer has an INT in him… I just know it
  19. You had me at Intensity. I saw the tag line on phone last night... "PK Fired" ...WT holy Fuck?????? "Muschamp ..." Oh, Ok. Sorry about PK, but ... "... when you can upgrade, do it every time. he has produced some of the best and most physical defenses we've had in a long, long time stop the god damned penalties, stop talking about culture and demand attention to detail at every level and win fucking games. One of the very best pure coaches on a side of the ball that has ever donned the burnt orange and white has returned to Austin. Make no mistake, this was a very good day for Texas football. What I absolutely love about Muschamp as a coach and person begins before an install, video breakdown, play call or scheme. It's the intensity, the passionate communication, the non-stop motor, a fire that burns constantly, the way he challenges his defensive players to bring the best out of them, the demand for physicality, the demand to be detail oriented of his players which creates discipline. The spending time with family..." I'm 100% behind this. I liked PK, but his late game defense was the equivalent of Herman's turtling offense. Those late game collapses hurt us, even if we won the games. The scoreboard made easy wins look like close games. Boom was Sark's 1st choice. I think that's where the list ended. Muschamp had a kid at Georgia; that was an easy decision for him. When my company was acquired, I asked my new boss for a job description. He took his feet off my desk, grabbed a sticky note, and handed it to me; "MAKE MONEY!" "Now, which word do you not understand?" Boom doesn't send mixed signals. His style of communication is more direct. His personality and style of play resonates with players. I think he will get Texas over the top and on recruiting a lot of star players that we almost get, but finish 2nd. Coach Boom brings a passion and intensity that has been in short supply for a very long time. Somebody has to energize the team. We have a lot of great players that are good people, culture guys, but they are all of the "walk softly and carry a big stick" kind of guys. Somebody has to charge up the team emotionally. Muschamp will find it, bring it out, and cultivate it. And equally important, that passion and intensity will bleed over to the offense. After years of making money for others, I started my own company so I could watch my boy's grow up, did it for 10 years. A+ for Coach Boom. The man knows whats important in life. Early on, someone alluded to the notion that prospective new offensive coaches were in the playoffs. I thinking there's more to come. "The oxen are slow, but the earth is patient."

apropos of nothing, but growing up as an xenennial, we were an apolitical generation. we weren’t taught about government or politics, we didn’t give a shit about government or politics, presidents changed but life never did, and you truly had to go out of your way to learn or know anything about politics. that’s why it has been so indescribably strange for me, as a man now in his 40’s, to have spent the past year+ learning that not only is the usa not this shining beacon of freedom and equality where anyone can prosper, the dream of every other nation; but i’ve now come to learn that, essentially, israel is a weak, tiny, ambitious bully, and that the United States is just the giant, mentally stunted, emotionally retarded bully who threatens to/actually does destroy anyone who tries to get in Israel’s way. what a bunch of bullshit this all turned out to be.
  21. My sweet Lord. Reading the thread since the Muschamp hiring is borderline exhausting. Some of the hawtest takes on this recruiting board, ever, on here between pages 45 and 48. I was quoting posts at first and by the time I reached 20, I just deleted them all, said “fuck it” and made myself a rye manhattan. If you can’t be excited by the Muschamp hire and all that that implies, wow. PK did really well, but he basically recused himself from having to be involved with talent evaluations and was regularly pining to get back to the west coast. Muschamp had agreed to take the DC role when Sarkisian was hired and helped handpick the staff. His wife stunned everyone and refused to agree to moving back to Austin. She loves Austin and returns several times a year to visit with friends and shop. She didn’t want to leave while the kids were in college. So Muschamp had to bow out. PK was a great back up, but Muschamp is who Sarkisian wanted from the jump. Muschamp is hands on with talent evaluation, with all of the game planning, has deep knowledge of the Georgia nemesis, endless energy, and will never be a yes man. He will tell Sarkisian straight up when he thinks he’s fucking up. The guy used to eat Greg Davis alive, in front of Mack Brown.
  22. OU, so you made the playoffs, didn't win a game and when you look back on 2025 all you got is that and a loss to Texas where you didn't score a TD or even enter the red zone...again. Great 2025.

I don’t know what I love most… the different fonts, leaving the second “the” on there, or how completely devoid of appreciation trump is for performing arts

My vote is for the John Milius special - a massive stroke that prevents him from talking or writing, but he can still hear and understand. He just has to sit there and listen while his legacy is debated. I believe that would be his customized hell and we could watch.
  25. I don't see anything wrong with that, even in the cutthroat world of college coaching. As a comparison, my Marine father missed at least a third of my childhood, because of deployments that were for periods of a year, six months, eight months, four months, etc., and even when he was home he was gone for work before I woke up, got home late, and worked most Saturdays. He also was on a ship in the Pacific when my kid brother was born. He made those sacrifices because he loved and believed in his job, but he still has some regret of how much time he missed when we were kids at home. So I get why Muschamp hit pause on his career. You don't get that time with your kids back. And while all things being equal I'd prefer a new DC hire who wasn't coming off of a gap year, it didn't seem that hard for Greg Robinson to shake off the rust when he had to take over for Manny _iaz in 2013. Our defense wasn't exactly elite that year, but the transformation of our defense when Robinson took over was night and day. I'd probably prefer that PK have stayed, but what do I know, and I'm sure I'm missing some behind the scenes discussions about why he's departing. In any event, he's gone, and programs lose coordinators all the time for all sorts of reasons. So if we need a new DC, I sure as hell like the Muschamp hire.
  26. unfortunately the “Bull” Reese passed away this september due to alzheimers. guy got a lot of shit, but he turned around a disastrous defense to a good to near great defense without any scandals and seemed to be an all round great dude
  27. It's a struggle, yesterday was just a really "bad" day. Pain meds not working, stomach doing acrobatics, barely strong enough to get from the living room to the bathroom, just everything fucking sucked. It had me scared about how maybe the decline is faster than I thought and I was reevaluating my entire timeline outlook. Today has been a very very "good" day. The swing is wild and all the stuff that seemed overwhelming and sucked has been totally minimal and easy to deal with. It's a real motherfucker mentally as I continue to give up more control of my life and let other people do things for me. Something else that has been really hard is my dog died back in August. I adopted her 6 months before I was diagnosed and she was an absolute rock in my life, a soulmate dog if there ever was one. She got me though the dark chemo days the way only the non-stop love of a pitbull can. Going through yesterday without her snoring on my lap was very difficult and I would have given all the money I have left for her to be back with me.
  28. Kirby Smart lives on the fucking field and never gets called for it.
  29. there's an hour plus interview of muschamp out there that's very recent like right before this season started. It's clear he wanted to enjoy his family this year, his head is screwed on so straight it's a breath of fresh air. He seems to be the quintessential family man and loves his wife like for real not just out of duty. it's also clear that he loves Austin, he said as much, said working for Mack was a highlight of his career, loves Saban and Kirby too. but he did talk about the friends they have in Austin and how much his wife loves Austin and they loved coaching at Texas. My guess is taking the Texas job is certainly a raise but UGA would match, but more than that it's a couple moving to where they want to be together. I think given he's done the HC gig and failed, I'm hopeful he wants to ride out as a DC for the remainder of his career so he may be here for a while. He's hands down the best in the business. this is a fucking massive hire. yeah we need offensive improvement, but there is no doubt improving the D can only help us. LFG.

When Iraq had it's first vote and had something like 98% participation rate, so many people compared it to America's dismal participation rate. But, in Iraq, whether your side won affected whether your people got jobs or were persecuted by police. Iraqi elections could literally be life or death for your clan. That wasn't the case in the US. So much of how the government operated was apolitical. You didn't have Presidents denying FEMA or SNAP based on whether 55% of a state voted a certain way. You didn't have the government directing or canceling criminal investigations based on your clan. Politics was more academic or philosophical or at least big-picture, slow burn shit. The low participation rate reflected stability. That has changed. Don't get me wrong. I've been political all my life and have always found it important. The philosophy and slow burn shit is important. But I've knocked on enough doors to recognize it's not always easy to explain the importance when there aren't immediate, tangible consequences.
  31. You have to replace the I key on your keyboard like twice a year, right?
  32. Ryan Day when asked a few weeks ago how much time he spends with the defense: “Not much. Not much. Yeah. Matt (Patricia) and I talk here and there just about philosophically what we’re trying to get done, but he’s doing a great job. He’s really the head coach of the defense, organizes it all, and he’s got a great staff with him.”
