I thought it might be helpful to have a separate topic related to the vaccine.  If this is too much duplication, mods please delete this thread.  I thought it would be good to talk about who can get the vaccine, where they can get it, what side effects people are seeing, and in general what is going on with distribution.

The CDC has published vaccine distribution guidelines, and if you care, they are worth reading.  They are dividing the timeline into:

  • Phase 1 - Potentially limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine doses available
  • Phase 2 - Large number of vaccine doses available
  • Phase 3 - Sufficient supply of vaccine doses for entire population

Who you are will determine if you are eligible for a vaccine in the various phases.

Phase 1 is divided into a Phase 1a and a Phase 1b:

  • Phase 1a - Mostly healthcare workers
  • Phase 1b - Other essential workers, people with higher risks, people over 65

If you are eligible to get the vaccine and they have in in stock and you want to get it, it is important to go get it.  Both of the first two vaccines can spoil, so if a dose is sitting there and you aren't there to get it, they might have to throw it away.

Both vaccines require two shots.  It is important to go get that second shot.

Who fits in phase 1b and who has to wait until phase 2 might be a sticking point.  The "people in higher risks" category includes a lot of folks, maybe more than you would think might be in that category.  Hopefully we can quickly get to phase 2 so that we don't spend too long arguing about who is or is not in Phase 1b.

Anyway, I'm interested in everyone's experience with the vaccine and especially getting the word out for those that can go get it, so that every dose ends up in an arm rather than in the trash.

Didn't watch the podcast, but there are many doctors and researchers who are dumbasses. Type any of his points and I'll respond.

If this is about the spike protein being pathogenic and toxic, that simply isn't true. Only pathogens can be pathogenic and the spike protein is not a pathogen. The spike protein also isn't toxic per se. Like many foreign proteins, the spike protein is immunogenic meaning the human body mounts a response against it. This is good and what keeps our species viable. Sometimes the immune response to a protein can go haywire and cause issues but this is not the same as the protein itself doing harm. If the spike protein did cause harm it would be a local issue near the site of injection and the nearest lymph nodes. This is because vaccines mostly remain near the site of injection. Very few people have had localized reactions with the sort of necrosis that a toxic agent would be expected to create. Moreover, the spike protein only stays intact in the human body for a few weeks so whatever toxicity could exist would disappear after that time.

He states there is peer reviewed evidence these spike proteins are not staying in the shoulder, and are entering the blood stream.

He states these spike proteins can cross the blood brain barrier, and also concentrate in several different organs.

He also states these spike proteins cause blood clots, and other damage to the cardiovascular system.

Like I mentioned, it is a very short clip.  It would be great if you gave it a listen, and could refute his claims.

Why the fuck would you want the spike proteins to stay in the “shoulder”? They have to be exposed to antigen presenting cells so your body can make some fucking antibodies. That guy is a moron

Edit: also, the vaccine doesn’t cause cells in your shoulder to produce the spike proteins. I really doubt that guy is a physician. If he is, he slept through cell biology and immunology

The info presented by neomoon states it is supposed to stay at the injection site.

But Dr. Adam Ratner, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at NYU Langone Health, said that vaccines are mostly concentrated at the site of injection or the local lymph nodes.

Also, does the mRNA shot not "teach" your body to fight covid-19 by having your body produce the spike protiens?

Also from info neomoon provided...

However, the vaccine works by teaching the immune system to fight off the spike protien

Local lymph nodes yes. Intramuscular in the deltoid is ridiculous. And “local” lymph nodes for the shoulder would include axillary, supraclavicular and  infraclavicular, anterior and posterior cervical and even suboccipital on that side. And even if some of the spike proteins got into the blood, who gives a shit? There have been literally billions of doses given. If this was a problem we would know about it.

You have to be a fucking idiot to think that the medical community/scientific community would either want to or be able to hide any significant number of complications such as organ failure or brain injury or cardiovascular injury due to spike proteins. The only thing a scientist likes as much as discovering something new and great is showing that someone else’s new and great discovery is bullshit.

Of course it does. What is your point?

The tetanus vaccine “teaches” your body to fight tetanus toxin with a slightly modified tetanus toxin protein. Does this dumb fuck think there is a whole bunch of people with tetanus toxoid poisoning their organs?

Anti-vax trolls that want to play the God/Jesus card should remember that the wisdom from above is “first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” If you’re claiming a position of faith and batting below the Mendoza line in checking those boxes, you might want to reflect on the source of your wisdom.

First, the average entrance GPA is higher for Vet School than Med School in the US. From what I know about this (which is very little), there aren't many vet schools around the country so there aren't many spots for applicants. Second, he didn't go to Vet School as far as I know: He does research at a Vet School as an associate professor. In other words, he is a PhD not DVM.

My theory:  People who are more cautious were both more likely to follow pre-vaccine precautions and more likely to get the vaccine.  They are also more likely to get tested now if they feel sick.

So more cautious folks didn't get as much disease pre-vaccine but they got out of the bunker post-vaccine and they're now getting breakthrough cases.  And they are more likely to go get a test if that happens.

The less cautious group had more natural immunity pre-vaccine from catching COVID and they are less likely to go get a test now, because that would admit that they were morons not to get the vaccine.  But eventually those that need hospitalization show up in the data.

ROME (AP) — Moderna has no plans to share the recipe for its COVID-19 vaccine because executives have concluded that scaling up the company’s own production is the best way to increase the global supply, the company’s chairman said Monday.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Noubar Afeyan also reiterated a pledge Moderna made a year ago not to enforce patent infringement on anyone else making a coronavirus vaccine during the pandemic.

“We didn’t have to do that,” Afeyan said. ”We think that was the right, responsible thing to do.” He added: “We want that to be helping the world.”

The United Nations health agency has pressed Moderna to share its vaccine formula. Afeyan said the company analyzed whether it would be better to share the messenger RNA technology and determined that it could expand production and deliver billions of additional doses in 2022.

“Within the next six to nine months, the most reliable way to make high-quality vaccines and in an efficient way is going to be if we make them,” Afeyan said. Asked about appeals from the World Health Organization and others, he contended that such pleas assumed ”that we couldn’t get enough capacity, but in fact we know we can.”

You need to keep up -- it's spilling into ALL vaccines.  And not just hesitancy, but outright bans on ANYPLACE requiring them, with such bans having the force of law.  Good luck not having fucking polio make a comeback.

We have leadership that is making being anti-vax, ALL VAXES, a central tenet of their governing philosophy.  It's getting worse, across the board.  It's all falling apart.  The worst-case scenario happens to be matching up to reality rather perfectly.
