I uses to be strictly Nike and then starting switching up some. The Saucony Kinvara Pro’s were carbon plated and they hurt my feet and I thought I broke my foot and then after 100 miles they felt great.
I’ve had luck with the New Balance Rebel v4 and they aren’t carbon plated but have enough bounce for me and are super light. I’m a guy that races in what I train in. I don’t overthink it with different shoes however I will when I try and qualify for Boston next year.
2 weekends away. I ran 20 on Wednesday and have swam a bunch this week plus 2 spin classes. I am up to 30 miles of running so far.
I wanted to do one last big brick tomorrow but it might be raining. If I can ride I will ride 60 and run 10. If it rains I will run 20 again. Water temp here is 77 so it will be wetsuit legal as they always find somewhere to measure to get it to 76 and we have some chilly mornings coming up.
I’m just ready to get it over with. It’s been fun but I am anxious. It’s going to be hard to taper for 2 weeks so I might just do a week taper.
You really didn’t lose anything much with your injury. My best advice is to bike bike and more bike.
He and I were probably a lot alike minus me being younger ( 43). I thought Trump was a little funny during campaign and I thought it would end and he would be serious when he won election. I was a little concerned when he made fun of McCain and nothing happened but figured surely he would stop. When everyone with a brain started leaving his staff I became really concerned and then the George Floyd stuff was my final straw.
Living in Tennessee I’ve obviously been living in Trump country. Last election people gave me shit for voting for Biden but this time is different. I’ve been shocked in the last few days how many of the people I would assume would vote Trump have told me fuck no. I was talking to a good friend and she said her husband isn’t voting for Trump. I said I was kind of shocked since he owns a business and she replied that he also has a wife and a daughter. I thought that was an incredibly powerful response from her. Trump was bad enough but the cringe of Vance has really done it.
This group has always gotten along and it’s been me and one other person that has went to the left the last 6 years against the other 8. We would always light heartedly give each other shit but we always knew to just not really talk about and have fun. Here lately, it’s almost like they are making a point to let me know what they are doing vote wise. Kind of cool to see honestly. It probably helps these are educated people.
Full discloser : I wore a sleeveless wetsuit but overall swim was alright until about 2,800 which coincidentally is about how far I swim. This is on par with my pace for the 70.3. I swam the opposite side of the race course.
Absolute dog shit swimming. My pool pace is 2:13 but I normally swim much better open water.
For the half last year I swam 34 minutes and a guy close to me in ability swam it in 33. Last year he swam the full in 45 minutes so I’m praying for a current like that. The last 2 years the full has been fast swim
The thing I still cannot reconcile is people like Vance and Kennedy and Cruze talking shit about him for years and then line up to suck his dick. Is it all about power ? Cruz is the biggest pussy of them all for doing nothing after Trump called his wife fat.
It’s supposed to be announced Chattanooga is changing bike course as Georgia and Ironman cannot suddenly agree on cost. New course will be 3 laps and 8,244 of elevation ( which is double normal course ) and no damn shade at all. A hard day just got harder but my last ride had 6,000 of elevation gain and I felt good. Nothing I can do but do it.
It’s interesting watching my speed turn to dog shit. Last year I could run a 1:28 half and now that I am not just running it gos away. It’s not a bad thing but it is humbling and sometimes hard not to run faster out of ego
