  1. I don't know if it's true but I've heard that only 3% of the colonists took up arms against the British in the Revolutionary War.

    Shan't fronts are the worst.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but why? It's Spring, and I'm pretty sure we've had below average precipitation for the last few months at least. It's almost certainly going to be a normal Summer, meaning scorching heat and no rain for months on end is just around the corner. We're all supposed to be sheltering in place anyways. The way I see it is there's no better time than now.
  4. I just saw on CNN New York has had 1200 new Covid-19 hospitalizations in the last day. It's not on their website yet, otherwise I'd post a link.
  5. Flat tires, and or masa in your gas tank is a given at this point.

I think the City of Austin proper will end up being just shy of a million, like 990,000. Travis County will be about 1.3 million. The 5 county Austin metropolitan area will be in the 2.2 million range.
  7. Oh yeah, for sure. The other little known rule of the thin blue line states all officers of the opposite sex in the same department must bang at least once. At least that's what I've always imagined.

Yeah, there's probably a better chance San Antonio FC becomes the affiliate rather than the Bold after reading about Reyna's previous relationship with San Antonio during his time in New York.
  9. If they do a doctor draft count me in. I'll be making it rain!!!
  10. I just want to say that I absolutely love when you post here at Surly. Every single time it brightens my day, and reminds me that there's still something worth living for. I mean that woman in your avatar's ass is just incredible. Thank you kind sir.

    I'll remember that in 2030.

There's a special wing in Guantanamo Bay for the scum who skip the census. You like cock meat sandwiches?

I didn't know what to put either, so I put European-American. I'm a mutt with ancestors from at least three or four different countries in Europe so it made the most sense to me.
  14. And now shit gets real. I believe many, if not most thought this was going to just blow over. Just about every other disaster in recent history has been wham, bam, thank you ma'am. Planes hit buildings, buildings burn, buildings fall. Horrid, nightmarish day. But one day. And they were always localized. Even Hurricane Katrina which really, really fucked Nola's shit up for an extended period of time was there. It really didn't affect most of us personally. After a couple of days, maybe a week it's pretty much back to normal, unless you were in Louisiana or Mississippi. I don't think people are prepared to deal with another month at least of further deteriorating conditions and news everywhere on the planet. Crazy, fucked up days we're living in. This is going to suck.
  15. My apartment complex sent this email out today. I'm actually surprised they're being reasonable, and not greedy, uncaring assholes.
  16. At the this point I don't really trust anyone's case totals or deaths. Everyone already knew China and Iran were lying, but after hearing Italy is not including nursing home deaths in their death totals I've lost faith we're getting accurate information from anywhere. There's no telling how many deaths around the globe have occurred due to Covid-19 that aren't included in any of the data. And of course the number of infected absolutely dwarfs the number of confirmed cases. And before anyone says that's great because that means the CFR is actually sooper dooper low, remember the magic of exponential growth. The vast majority of infected have only recently become so. Hopefully the curve has been flattened, though. Unfortunately, I still think April's data is going to make March look tame in comparison.

I just did the census online. It took less than five minutes. Here's a link for anyone who hasn't done so yet. https://my2020census.gov/
  18. March summary of Covid-19: World 3/1/2020 Confirmed cases - 88,585 Deaths - 3,050 CFR - 3.4% 3/31/2020 Confirmed cases - 858,355 Deaths - 42,309 CFR - 4.9% United States 3/1/2020 Confirmed cases - 75 Deaths - 1 CFR - 1.3% 3/31/2020 Confirmed cases - 188,530 Deaths - 4,053 CFR - 2.1%
  19. Why do you hate the American Dream?
  20. This works, too...
  21. I know no one wants to hear it, but I've been thinking and there's little doubt in my mind at this point if it weren't for these unprecedented measures the world has taken Covid-19 would have been Spanish Flu version 2.0. I easily could imagine this having infected 1/3 of the planet if we would've all just rolled our eyes and let it spread like wildfire. Can you call imagine 2.5 BILLION cases of this shit?!? The death toll is going to still be terrible, but I am thankful we have taken action to slow the spread because if not the total number of deaths could have been absolutely nightmarish. Sorry to be all dramatic and cheesy, but God bless you all.
