  1. Try this: go trade it in on a Tundra.
  2. Gagree, with the Cannondale T2000 closely trailing. Comfort-wise, the Specialized would probably win, followed by the Cannondale. Hank, if you're just looking for something to tool around on, run errands, etc., any of those 3 would be fine. If you're looking to hop on a bike and take a 50 or 60 mile ride, then the Marin above or that carbon fiber one would be your pick.
  3. Spitballing here, but I would bet that is about a 30 year old bike. Main thing I would be concerned about is integrity of the carbon frame at its age. The gruppo was top- and mid-tier Shimano products, at the time, if I am correct about the age. The pedals would require cleated shoes (you have to "snap-in" the cleats into the pedals), that would mean if you plan on using it for just errands and stuff you would need to carry around another pair of shoes/sandals to walk comfortably. Side note, the saddle used to be called the clit saver, as it was originally designed for women riders.
  4. Couple of years ago, we had a conference in DC and girlfriend and I made that road trip from Atlanta. Made a long week of it and went to some out of the way places on the trip. Lake Lure/Chimney Rock, NC, Boone, NC, Assateague/Chincoteague Islands, Jamestown, etc. Enjoyable trip.

  9. For the same reason people tap on the glass to make a caged rattlesnake strike or taunt the zoo animals: boredom with a sprinkling of latent cruelty.
  10. Update: $250 locksmith call. New keypad installed, programmed and I'm back in business.

    RIP Buddy. Damn good dog.
  12. I would rather walk than put a penny in that fuckhead's pocket (no CR).
  13. The 4 door sports car.
  14. How fucked am I? Went down to my gunsafe tonight, keypad powered by a 9V battery. Wouldn't open, so decided I need to put a fresh battery in. Pull the dial off, try to take the battery out, and apparently one of the anodes had corroded to the connector and the fucking connector thing broke in half. So, now I have the dial off, a busted in two battery connection, and no idea how to fix this shit. Can a regular old locksmith get the safe open? I am assuming that unless I can order a whole new dial assembly, the safe is fucked anyway. If so, where can I buy a gunsafe with just a plain old combination lock on it that doesn't depend on battery power?
  15. Ziggy was fucking awesome. The complete fuck-up friend/acquaintance/relative that most of us have known.
  16. I took it, but I have been retirement eligible for 8 years anyway and was planning on retiring later this year. I've only worked this long because I like my job and believe my agency performs a critical function.
  17. Bus tub buffet isn't uncommon in restaurant work.
  18. Always thought this was a banger.
  19. Think a couple of the places mentioned in this thread have went belly up, but here's some 6 year old recommendations.
  20. Quoted for emphasis. They replaced the windshield in my previous Tacoma. It leaked and made the whole damn truck smell musty/moldy until I sold it (finally figured out the windshield was leaking when I came back from a business trip and noticed the carpet was wet after leaving the truck parked at the airport for a week). They pulled the windshield and resealed it, but the smell stayed.
  21. Love my Wusthof Classic bread knife.
  22. Courthouse - Ragtime, Tupelo Honey Clarendon - Green Pig Bistro, Liberty Tavern
  23. Add some Hatch chilis and sauteed mushrooms and that is fine eating.
  24. Cortez the Killer.
