2025-26 Houston Rockets Thread - Back to Contention?
We had the assets to get it done. Any coach that can't work Harden into their offense shouldn't be coaching in the NBA. Is it worth it to legitimately contend with aged 37 Durant, knowing Harden would make the offense easier for everyone. What is Durant gets injured next year? What if VanVleet returns with even less athleticism than he already has? Thompson can't shoot, Smith is weak and can't dribble, Eason is hurt all the time and can't dribble. Reed has short arms, has no lateral quickness, and has a pretty low basketball IQ. Steven Adams could very well be done, and Capela is signed for another 2 seasons at a ridiculous amount for a 3rd string center with rapidly declining athleticism and skills. Oh, and finally we get two more years of the worst FA signing of 2025.

Harden wanted to come back, but Ime Stone said no. Fuck both of them. Easier to keep our jobs when there are no expectations due to injuries to like the 6th and 7th most important players on the team.

I mean they should just rest Durant and Sengun because their season was over when franchise ICON Fred VanVleet tore his ACL. Maybe they can get lucky in the lottery and get a Top 4 pick and only have to send OKC their 2nd round pick.

This offense is hilarious, 29th in 3PA but 7th in %, 1st in 2PA but 29th in %.

In Sengun's defense why the fuck is Udoka's strategy to have him guarding guards out to the 3 point line. Oh because Stone and Udoka don't have any fucking guards on the roster. This is looking like it's turning into a complete dumpster fire.

Absolutely love how we have no one that can dribble the ball without spazzing out into a TO.

They have room for 1 prorated vet minimum deal, but need 3 legitimate rotational players. 2 guards and another big, since all their forwards are not strong enough to play backup center minutes. Maybe rec-specs is the one. Haha, Stone is so fucking retarded.

That is the problem, every year with Durant you are pushing your chips in to contend, why else would you trade for him if you just want to develop your young players more. There is no guaranteeing that Durant is this good and healthy next year, and you are counting on a 33 year old fatass midget and a oft injured big to bring it altogether. It's fine, maybe another 1st round flame out will mean the end of the Stone/Ime experience.

You think this team is winning 4 series as currently constructed after watching what the Celtics did to them last night.

Stone just admitted he has punted on the season due to the injuries, what a fucking loser. You have 37 year old Durant playing at a high level and healthy, and you fucking punt on the season due to Fred fucking VanVleet and Steven Adams. We don't even have any picks in a loaded fucking draft, so we are going to ride Durant into the dirt in a season where our GM has already given up and to top it off he gave away a likely Top 10 pick if not Top 5 for future draft assets that now look to be shitty. Like I said, he fucking sucks at the draft.

Don't have like 6 of those guys already.

So he had like 8 first round picks and ended up with essentially Sengun and Thompson. He whiffed on Green, Garuba, Christopher, Smith, Eason, Whitmore, and Sheppard. Green was so bad he had to be traded luckily Durant forced his way here so the Sun were stuck. Garuba and Christopher were comically bad, especially when Grimes was available. I don't think they even worked out Smith or Eason. Thompson fell into their laps, took Whitmore with no place to develop him ending trading him away for two-2nds. Sheppard, also didn't work him out. he is legitimately in the conversation for the worst defensive player in the league, meanwhile Castle is becoming a star in San Antonio. We tanked for 4 seasons, and the Spurs have already over taken us, and it's likely the Mavericks will as well as we try to roll out a team with 4 forwards and a center and get run off the court by teams with 3+ rotational guards on their roster.

What future are we mortgaging? The core is KD, Sengun, and Thompson. You have that core for the next 2-1/2 seasons. You have to make decisions on Smith, Eason, and Sheppard because you can't keep all 3. Smith has no strength or ability to create shots, Eason is always hurt and can't create shots, Sheppard is a bigger defensive liability than he is a scorer. Those 3 guys should be on the table to ensure that the next 2-1/2 seasons are maximized. I don't care about draft picks because our GM sucks at the draft. You have Van Vleet, Adams, Finney-Smith, and anyone on the stay ready crew's salaries to acquire better and healthier players.

He was so important that the team is currently, checks notes, 4th in the West.

Yeah. Framber likely took the most money he could so that he could get another contract while still producing at a reasonable level. He was never getting a 5+ year deal at 32.

I'd also try to get Zubac from the Clippers for Finney-Smith, Capela, and picks.

We need Sexton and Simons. For money it would be Van Vleet and Green then Adams and Sheppard I would also include the 2027 Phoenix pick, since it is obvious it's not going to be good. I am ready to move on Sheppard, he's got more negatives than positives at this point. Though it would have be separate deals since Simons can't be traded with another player.

There are a few more guys out there with QOs, so Crane still has time to fuck his future by signing one of them and forfeiting draft picks.

They barely have money for buyouts. Stone really fucked this roster both in the terms of balance and flexibility. I am sure that Udoka was in his ear the entire time helping him build it. Both of them need to be fired after the season if they flame out in the 1st round again.

Astros should be all over Yanquiel Fernandez. He was just DFA'd is only 23 and has 1 option remanining. Former Top 100 prospect. Lefty hitting corner OF from Cuba.
