I’m a little confused or maybe surprised about what’s going on in recruiting/NIL. From listening to BB, every school has 20-22mil to spend on athletes( all athletes not just football). Anything on top of that would have to be NIL vetted by a new guy hired after the House Settlement. If Texas Tech promised Ojo anywhere close to 1 mil and their softball pitcher is at 1 mil, they’re paying 10% of their allotment for a guy that probably won’t play for two years and a softball pitcher? If part of that is based on NIL and the deal gets denied all hell breaks loose?
I’m Aug 20 so I guess upper deck for me. Also, I guess TexasOne members noticed your getting 2 points per $100 donation now instead of 5. I’m not even clear on what the collective actually will do going forward. I’m thinking of just directing my money back to the university.
With all that bitching, they failed to acknowledge that they shouldn’t have even been in that night game. If not for a shitty umpire, they would have been out the previous game.
It’s amazing how far he and Quinn fell. He was supposed to be at worst a 2nd rounder. Maybe he interviewed like Shedeur? I’m assuming NIL is better than 6 th round money.
It’s also bad because quite a few organizations had inside information on when the tickets would drop so they could buy up all the student LHF memberships. LHF and the athletic office should have a fair process in place, they failed the integrity test miserably.
Career firefighter/paramedic here. I think my career is one of the most rewarding things you can do but it can take a toll on you and your family if you’re not careful. The terrible things you see combined with lack of sleep sometimes turns you into someone you don’t want to be. My advice is to make sure you find what works to decompress before you come home. For some that is sharing a few cups of coffee with the oncoming shift just bullshitting and laughing, others go to the gym and pump out an intense workout. Strangely enough, what bothers me most is things that should disturb me don’t anymore. Desensitization is real in this profession. My son graduates from the 40 acres in a few weeks and is waiting for his MCAT scores to come in. He is also finishing up an EMT course so that he can do that in a potential gap year. I’d be proud if that’s what he chose but also want him going in with eyes wide open.
Between SA and Austin stop in at Gruene, check out Gruene Hall drink some wine/beer, eat at Grist Mill or Gruene River Grill, a lot of evenings they have free live music around town.
So, Ive never been to Europe and I’m going to Greece for about 10 days in June. I told my wife if I’m going this far anyway I’m staying an extra 7-8 days and flying to Italy. I want to go mainly for the historical sites but I know it will be super crowded. I’d like to spend about 4 days in Rome and another 3-4 in the south to see Pompeii and maybe Herculean. Also maybe visit Ischia. Based on this thread, driving to Sorrento is a bad idea. I’m ok taking trains but my question is making Sorrento a home base for the stuff I’d like to see a bad idea because of the crowds? What might be a better option?
