Yes, but Colombia is offering a package deal. As long as you purchase both from them, they will cover the cost of the tariffs.

Markets still falling like whoa
I can't remember the book, but there was a story about a new trader on the floor of this commodity firm. One of the suits stopped to talk with him one day and asked him about his trading. The young man explained his trading plan, "Market will drop to this line and I will buy because it will go up from here" type of plan. When the market dropped to that line, as predicted, the decline stopped and he made his buy. The young man was proud of himself. While still with the young man, the suit immediately got on the phone and ordered a relatively large sale of the commodity, since he had the authority to do so. As soon as the large sell transaction went through, the market quickly started heading back to the downside. Lesson learned.

Markets still falling like whoa
I was in a trading group a few years ago that included a small fund manager. A group of traders got massively underwater on a penny stock so they banded together to generate a fake article regarding the company being bought out. They played it off to the trading group as if it were real, merely sharing the tweet from some "news site". Funny thing, there was an error in the article. Let's just say the decimal was in the wrong place and not in their favor... Someone called it out in the group and many of us laughed about how shitty the company was to release the article in an attempt to pump the stock, with such an egregious error that created the exact opposite effect. A member of our group got very offended and unintentionally tipped their hand that they were the author... I left the group, they were reported to the SEC, but nothing happened. Lots of shady shit goes on in the trading world, price targets, buy recommendations, sell recommendations, articles to create hype and fear. Only those who truly fuck the whales get in trouble. Trust nothing.

I like the aggressiveness. Have any kids to sell? * No I’m not buying.

More news of over-leveraged accounts (retail & cocky hedge funds) blowing up.

This is where I’m at. This stuff fascinates me and I’m in a conservative position. Imagine the wealth that could be generated by those in-the-know. It would be similar to a group waging biological warfare on the world and buying up property and businesses throughout the globe during the crisis.

Some questions about decisions in my 401k distributions and possibly rolling into a self directed fund
It will sell at the market price at market open.

Could hold or bounce, but the aggressive manner in which we got here leads me to believe it won't hold this level for too long.

If Elon has his way, we're definitely getting to 420 at some point.

Know any of the big-wigs at BlackRock? They are likely calling plays.

Tale of three "bottoms" (not a porn video) 2020 - Immediate bounce up. 2022 - Fake-outs and retesting the bottom. 2008 - Steep drop really only one fake-out before testing the bottom twice. They are all different.

I wouldn't recommend anything but a money market fund or short term govt security right now. Anything else is a huge gamble at the moment.

In my opinion, the selling will likely slow or bounce around 2022 highs, as shorts begin to cover a larger portion of their position and other buyers are looking for it as support. If something big doesn't change and the cycle completes itself, it will likely only be temporary, with bounces getting heavily shorted again. I think we'd only be in the anxiety phase.

I’m about 84% cash & treasuries between retirement and non-retirement funds as of December. First time in my life I’ve sold anything in my retirement account.

Wouldn't claim otherwise. As stated, I was originally referring to the administration's talking points. I don't presume to understand it, rarely think about it, and have no intentions of learning. My focus is what the market is currently doing. I don't need to understand trade deficits for my trading/investing methods, which is mainly based on volume (indicator of what the big players are doing), and technicals. The markets are frequently detached from fundamentals and the research doesn't suit my personality. I'll let the big firms do the research and I'll do my best to follow their lead. Regarding labor costs in ALL developed countries, it depends on the country and the type of labor. In Singapore, the median income is US$4,074/month or US$48,888/year for their citizens. However, their migrant laborers' median income is US$1,820, with a huge percentage making as low as US$600 a month. The migrant laborers building their infrastructure, repairing ships, and acting as nannies typically make around US$20 a day.

Imagine having a discussion about how big banks have been making a fortune for years and someone comes along and says, “Oh yeah, well Heartland Tri-State Bank went under in 2023. See, not all big banks have been making money!”

I’m not an economist and never said it was, only spoke on the administration’s talking points. However, my simple minded view would be, a person (country) can’t survive if they are consuming at a higher rate than they are producing. I can’t have a trade deficit with everyone I’m dealing with or I go bankrupt.

We dropped nukes on Japan cities and quickly began trading with them. We've invaded countries and still trade with them. I think trying to achieve balanced trade, regardless of the tactics, pales in comparison. The USD being the world reserve currency has been at risk for many years.

I read he's had over 500 businesses, and 6 bankruptcies. I'll take those odds. Also, let's be real. Attempts may have already been made to eliminate him...
