  1. Yes, literally. There are only two realistic options for how it could get worse. Option 1: Zero wins. Option 2: The university gives up football and the team is disbanded. So perhaps technically, the statement should have been, "Only two realistic options exist which argue otherwise and except for those two option, it literally cannot get worse." But, this is Surly. Fewer words. More inanities. Carry on.
  2. At times like these, there are no great words of wisdom from others. Sadness, sorrow, grief ... are so individualized. They are unique for each and every one of us. Maybe at this time, because this sadness is so incredibly new, allow yourself to feel the sadness. But a sadness because a person you loved, a person who had such meaning for you, has transitioned on from our existence. Maybe realizing that that sadness is natural, it happens within us all and the fact that Uncle Mike is in a place so beyond our comprehension, is the cause of that sadness. NOT anything you did or did not do. And I truly believe that realizing the true cause of your sadness, acknowledging it, knowing it is part of the human condition. This will allow you to have a greater understanding of the incredible impact he had in your life. That sadness hurts right now. That is the way of life. But, from that pain and sorrow can eventually come love for a life well lived and the impact he had on you and your brother. It may not be time to celebrate his life. But it sounds like some of the best parts of your beloved Uncle Mike live on through you.
  3. Well hell ... This weekend was particularly rough with the horrors of Allen and Brownsville bringing home the message of how fragile, and sacred life can be. And when a life is extinguished, all they were, all they are and all they could have been ... leave our existence. The scars left on so many families will never go away. How precious life truly can be ... and is. And then to think of how some doctors take life for granted. How they are so willing to prescribe drugs which extinguish life... Now, I am not against all Physician Assisted Suicide. By God, if I end up with pancreatic cancer, or a brain tumor, or a medical illness that will surely take my life ... then, by all means. If that happens to me, I have already made plans to fly to St. Maarten, buy an inexpensive sail boat, buy about 3 cases of champagne, 2 pounds of blow, say good bye to my loved ones and then... go sailing off until my heart explodes. But, not for all conditions. Not for mental health conditions. On April 25, a case was filed in federal court in Los Angeles. It challenges California's Right to Die Statute. In essence, it alleges that the statute violates the due process and equal protection clauses because of the well known bias in the medical community against people who are disabled... or poor or minorities. And boys... it has legs. I have communicated with the lead attorneys. They referred one of the nation's largest anti Physician Assisted Suicide organizations to me and I have spoken with them. An article is coming out in the Washington Post about this idiot doctor who came up with her own, Protocol of Death for anorexia. I have had numerous talks with her. And I am figuratively hunting that idiot doctor in Colorado.... being rejected by 25 medical schools, an internist who admits she doesn't know the in depth aspects of the psychological aspects of mental health... Jesus. But, to have a doctor so willingly prescribe death ... is nothing short of reprehensible. In any event, just needed to vent a bit. I have the Texas Medical Board after the doctor in Colorado (she has a license in Texas as well). The press. And she knows I am hunting her. She retained an attorney who had the audacity to write: "Let me begin by saying that Dr. Gaudiani and I both understand the overwhelming and lasting grief you must feel from the loss of your daughter to anorexia nervosa.” No, you idiot ... you don't. So gentlemen (and if any ladies read this)... I will end this rant like I usually do by saying, "Give your children a hug every day ... look them in the eyes and tell the you love them. That is the most powerful thing you can do!
  4. Dude... they are a 1 - 11 team which lost by an average of 31.8 points per every loss. On offense, they averaged 17 points a game. (take into account that after the score got out of control, they were playing against 5th string defenses). They have not won a road game since the "Vid Year" of 2020. The stench of losing must permeate every inch of that locker room. They are like that patient which has a combination of pancreatic cancer, stage 4 lung cancer, advanced liver disease, ALS, brain tumor and erectile dysfunction. Clean house. With the exception of that 1 win, it literally cannot get worse.
  5. Koval Street east of the Strip and Sinatra Drive... as well as Dean Martin Drive (west of the Freeway) have been my friends for years.
  6. Perhaps ... but ... He is the reincarnation of Barry Sanders? That is, has an incredible individual career but plays on a team which wins only one more playoff game than a dead man would win.

Before we start awarding ourselves Victoria Crosses and Congressional Medals of Honor and so on and so forth and such like ... let us remember ... 1996 ... we were 21 point favorites over an 0 - 4 Hillbillies team. They had lost to the murderer's row of San Diego State, TCU, Tulsa and Kansas. ... And, WE LOST 31 - 27. 2015 ... under the followship of Coach Potato, we were 16.5 point underdogs to the Hillbillies. Every person on the good guys' side of the stadium was given a travel size bottle of lube as we walked in. For some reason, known only to God and broccoli, we pulled out a 24 - 17 win. I have been to over 30 of these games ... and you just never can tell. On paper, we should absolutely dump truck them, we should stampede their women and rape their cattle. But.. we will see.
  10. In fact, I have a 3rd grade drop out from the DISD dumbphone... in fact, the dumbest iPhone in the history of God. So, I let all of my contacts know that when I talk text, I am NOT going to check for speling, grammar, wurd contextt. It will be up to them to figure out what I was trying to text.
  11. This is why Satan gets a shit ton of Christmas cards every December.
  12. First, congratulations on the proper usage of the words. However, in order for that rather salubrious act to occur, the person depositing the sperm would have to go to Lake Arrowhead, find a way to accumulate the ashes of one human being, reanimate them into a human being, obtain my dear, sainted mother's consent and then make said deposit.
  13. Sweet Blue Jumpin' Buddha on a unicycle with no seat!! In the NCAA clock change thread, there were two consecutive posts where the use of the words "less" and "fewer" were butchered worse than an aggy at a Mensa Conference. So, let's review. It is not that difficult. "Fewer" is used when referring to items that can be counted individually, such as people, objects, or animals. It is used to indicate a smaller quantity or number of something. For example, "I have fewer apples than you" or "There are fewer people in the room than yesterday." "Less," on the other hand, is used when referring to something that cannot be counted individually, such as a liquid or a concept. It is used to indicate a smaller amount or degree of something. For example, "I want less sugar in my coffee" or "There is less pollution in the air today." A simple way to remember the difference is to think of "fewer" as referring to things you can count, and "less" as referring to things you cannot count. We are not aggy. We are not the meth head addled people from aggy. We are not the inbred mouth breathers from Arkansas. We are from By God, all that is right and holy TEXAS!
  14. Oh for Fuck's sake! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.... We have played what... only one FCS program and that was Sam Houston State in 2006? There is NO reason to ever play a fucking FCS school. We are not aggy. With the expanded playoffs, we don't need a creampuff. Good Lord.

Jane, you ignorant slut! You should have said, "All white is about the only version that is acceptable but is still not great, save and except for the Longhorns Storm Troopers all white look which is iconic."

Why the fuck would you go from this to UCF Knights? Damn... that's the Great Gazoo from the Jetsons and Flintstones fame.
  19. Dude... it's not you. It's the color of the car. Green has historically been bad luck. https://jalopnik.com/how-the-color-green-became-a-deadly-bad-luck-superstiti-1763008917

Well fuck me. 43% At least the Germans were the best dressed military of all time.
  21. I know many doctors who already think/know the "peer to peer" reviews they have to do now are a joke. Most have no idea that those "peer to peer" reviews are going to go away in terms of human interaction.
  22. On a serious note (I know, I know ... so inappropriate for our fellow Surlyites, Surlyitians?) health insurance companies are all over ai software programs. Uploading their guidelines (some companies ran their internal guidelines through their finance and accounting departments to determine what is the least amount of coverage at the lowest cost they can supply while still ostensibly complying with the Mental Health Parity Act of 2008), uploading outside sources which support their guidelines and then, implementing this system. This effectively will allow them to fire most of their direct care staff employees and authorization for treatment and the payment for expensive treatment will be made by silicone based intelligence. If you think the medical and mental health systems right now are broken... just wait. These professionals are already being forced to utilize medical guidelines drafted by insurance companies and if they choose not to accept insurance... they effectively have no practice. Unemployment will go up, the profits for health insurance companies will explode upward and our feckless politicians on both sides of the aisles do their, "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" routines. Ok.. this public service announcement is over. Now back to your regularly scheduled Surly-ites memes.

Yes, I too liked Jeng Chi before the remodel. And I agree with you about the food. We used to like Kirin Court on Sundays as well. Always packed.
