Formula 1 2022
Indeed a catchy tune. But, the French have been stabbing their fellow allies in the back going back as least as far as King Phillip II who reneged on his vows during the Third Crusade while in the Holy Land, took over lands owned by King Richard I (the Lionheart) when he remained, to the French being duplicitous During the Falklands Conflict, to not allowing our fighter jets overflight privileges when we were going after Libya ...the list goes on and on. Yes, the French make great wine, cheese, their artists in the past have been incredible .. but, to some, their National Anthem does not stir feelings of loyalty, strength and power.

Uber Alles may be the best national anthem. That Joseph Haydn knew what he was doing.

RIP Sharon Shipley
Wait a second. So, she voluntarily left a treatment center. And, within hours is found dead. It makes me wonder what in the blue hell was going on at that treatment center. Could they reasonably have suspected that she had suicidal tendencies before she left? And if not, why not. Yes, she was an adult. But, with this tragedy happening a few, mere hours after she left, I can't help but wonder if that treatment center was up to speed on her current condition and if so, if they knew the steps the legal system afforded them to protect her for her own safety. There's more here to the story boys.

Formula 1 2022
Alright Wood, Anton and others with inside information and far more intelligence than me (Although, I did get to see the shit show F1 race in Dallas in 1984 as the heat basically melted the track and got to watch Nigel Mansell collapse as he tried to push his broken down hoopdie Lotus across the finish line! I am fairly up to speed on the changes for this year, but how do you experts see them impacting the teams this next year? Another Hamilton-Verstappen duel to the end? Does anyone have the tech knowledge to test Mercedes and Red Bull? Is HAAS still going to be a shit show?

Friends, Romans and Surlyites, lend me your expertise. SO and I are going to Oahu December 29 through Jan. 4. Already have MIghty Mo and Arizona tours lined up. But, we don't like to eat with the tourists. Any recommendations on good foodie spots inhabited by the locals? Seafood, Asian, fresh ingredients. We will have a rental car so travel is not a problem. Thank you Gentlemen (and possibly Ladies).

Dallas | Steak
Went there for years. Got to know Bush pretty well. Got drunk with him a few times. Smoked cigars in their side lounge before it was prohibited. Many great events there. Never had to eat upstairs with the spares. Porn stars. College coaches. Actors. Politicians.

Tell me about ou
So, Hall was the DC at Troy? I read that Troy initially had a pretty salty defense. That its defensive line was as if it was a tall, strong wall repelling all attacks. Then, as time and the season wore on, so too did Troy. I read that they lost a key player, a rover named Paris. But, the Men of Troy stayed resolute which began to bring doubts to their opponents. You see, Troy's opponents had their own Achilles' heel and they became tired of being bent over while Troy went Greek on them, unlubed no less. So, seeing that a frontal attack was of no use, Troy's opponents resorted to trickeration. They used the old, "hide the ball in the belly of the Horse" play, Troy completely fell for it and the Troy defense completely fell apart leading to their utter defeat. So, we have THAT going for us too.

- 5-7 Bowl eligible?
UH... what happens at the Number 6 dance that night?- 5-7 Bowl eligible?
The amazeballs thing about that is ... the year before, they set the bowl record for most passing yards against Meatchicken State ... 603 yards. (Of course, the Baptists did their Texas 2021 imitation by giving up 21 points in the 4th quarter and losing the game.) The next year with that 645 yards, 5 different players took snaps out of the wildcat. Briles is a football savant. That pesky enabling rape thing was his "Hitler hates all jews" factor.- Thanksgiving Recipes
Alright boys ... its cranberry sauce recipe time. This is so good, your friends will be beating down your door or offering to sacrifice a virgin to get some. Bag of Fresh cranberries. (Usually that is 12 oz.) 1 cup brown sugar. 3/4 cup Apple juice (or cider) 1/4 cup Orange juice 2 table spoons of bourbon or Grand Marnier. Zest from one orange. Chop up the remainder of the orange. A pinch (or more to taste) of: Allspice Cinnamon Ground Cloves Cardamom. Medium heat on the stove top, stirring frequently. Not high heat. The berries will boil over and prematurely burst. (we men like NOTHING to be premature). Stir, stir. When most berries have popped, pull off heat and let cool off. Put in frig. Pull out about an hour before serving. These stay good for days in the frig and improve each day. Enjoy.- Surly’s list of Dallas top 25 restaurants
Have lived in Dallas since 1974, except when I was attending UT and then law school. The Significant Other lives way the hell up here. I moved in with her 3 years ago. The first time in my life I have lived north of LBJ. Took a LONG TIME to get used to. I lived around Preston and Forest for a long time. Walking distance to the original Mi Cocina. I went there the first week it was open ... I think they had 12 tables. And back then, the Mambo Taxis were the real deal.- Dallas | Steak
I used to be a Del Frisco's guy. Was going there before they moved up to Spring Valley Road. Go to know Dee Lincoln after she bought the place from Dale Wamstad. Used to love it. Got drunk with "Bush" a number of times. Saw Bob Stoops eating a huge bag of dicks on a back table in what was then their cigar room the night before the Texas - ou game. And then ... Dee Lincoln sold out. They moved their flagship to Uptown. I was living down there at the time. (during and after the divorce from the Sequel.). Officed a block from there. AND THEN ... Wow. What they say is "prime" filet tastes a hell of a lot like Select. The sides are average at best. And the patrons ... Good Lord! There was a time when you respected the restaurant and the Chef by at least dressing presentable. Now... baggy shorts, wife beaters ... HEY! No problem! Come on in. Sad to see what used to be a great steakhouse erode into what it is today. Ugggg.- Surly’s list of Dallas top 25 restaurants
Any list that does not include Cadot or Lavendou should be suspect. Speranza is excellent as well.- Post a pic that makes you say "Holy shit."
All this talk about the Amish and nothing from Kingpin? Damn, Surlatians, I haz dissapoint.- Fat Gary? He gone.
And yet, not as bad of a job as the towel person for Mark Mangino.- Hey PK -- What would you say you do here?
Wait ... what? Many other teams destroyed us between 2000 - 2004? Excluding OU, our losses were as follows: 2000 -- Stanford by 3; Oregon in the bowl game by 5; 2001 -- Colorado by 2 in the Big 12 champ game; 2002 -- Texas Tech by 4; 2003 -- Arkansas by 10; Washington State by 8 in the bowl game; 2004 -- No losses other than Ou Besides ou, in those 5 years, we had a total of 6 losses, the worst one by 10 points, with an average of 5.3 points per loss. Ouch... facts suck sometimes.- Post a pic that makes you lol
