  1. It is a rounding error for her. Not devastating at all. Needs to think of it as a trade item against hyperinflation like I do. CHIEF
  2. I shot my first deer with a .243, that is still my favorite gun to shoot to this day. It is a "varmint special" with a 20-22" barrel, and at the time, was longer than I was tall. I was six and very small for my age, probably about 35 lbs. soaking wet. For me, it was about like shooting a .50BMG. I still have two scars over my left eye from getting hit by the scope ring on two different occasions . CHIEF
  3. I told CHIEF Jr. (who is fixated on binary triggers) that I don't really see the point of being able to rip through $30 of ammo in three seconds. I told him absolutely no on any of our ARs, even his. My house, my rules. He pushed to get the XT22, and add it to that, but even .22LR, at that rate of fire would eat up $100 of ammo in about a minute. If SHTF, in reality, you would want to conserve your stockpile for the long haul. CHIEF
  4. My mother decided to buy 100 oz. of silver and 4 oz. of gold last Tuesday, she went from kindergarten through high school with the owner of Cowtown Metals, in Ft. Worth. She locked in a price of $115 on uncirculated Silver Maples and I'm not sure how much she paid for the four uncirculated Liberty gold coins. She has been bitching all weekend about it. I didn't think she would be able to take delivery for a few weeks, but he had it by Thursday. Herself, and the three of us went to go pick it up today, and eat lunch in Ft. Worth. Tom, the owner, told her not to worry. He is really conservative on where he thinks the prices will be by the end of the year, but says he expects silver to be about $300/oz, and gold to be at $6000/oz. I offered to pay for lunch since she was still a bit butthurt from having to start out behind the eightball. People were coming in and asking for gold coins, all the gold he had left, in the store was two 1/10th ounce coins, and nothing but junk silver. It looked like HEB shelves the day before an ice storm. I think he actually pulled my mom's coins from his own personal stash out of their seventy year friendship. CHIEF
  5. I’m not wading through 14 pages. But if you go to check your notifications on my IMac, they won’t open. I have to check them on my IPhone, so you have to swap back and forth. If this has been raised, I apologize CHIEF
  6. My FIL got Jerry Scarbrough's newsletter till the day he died. He would read stuff to me that I had known about for 2-3 weeks from Hornfans. CHIEF
  7. Probably some of that sweet Tom Petty money. CHIEF
  8. I'm the same way. Easiest way to confiscate it is to not let me into my safety deposit box. I have an uncle that has the old post office safe from Kopperl, Tx. Its welded to the floor in his workshop. It isn't big enough for much precious metal (probably 4'x4'x3') but the doors are about a foot thick, and the rest is probably about 4" thick. Our whole extended family keeps their wills and deeds in there. It probably weighs an easy 10k pounds. I've tried to keep up with small town post office closings, but it relies heavily on word of mouth. CHIEF
  9. We made Larry Ellison have to go dig through his couch cushions again. CHIEF
  10. Here is someone else that explains how this was a move against China: CHIEF
  11. Yeah, but I see were DD is coming from. If you subtract 72" from 85" that is only 13 inches left for the measurement across the chest. CHIEF
  12. Ah, the Cool River of Lubbock. Gotcha. As for Brandon Harris, I have come to accept him for what he is, a glorified six figure travel agent. Booking fights, hotels, restaurant reservations, and probably gets to drive the van to Peter Pan Mini Golf. CHIEF
