  1. I kid, I know those movies have their fans and they probably contributed to Star Trek being where it's at now with multiple series.
  2. I think there is a far greater than 50% chance that we attack Iran in some way within a week or two. Trump is desperate for a win, he and Puppy Killer are having a hard time controlling the narrative out of Minneapolis while ICE agents are being mocked/challenged. Venezuela was a great distract from Epstein. Minneapolis was a great distraction from both of those (as was Greenland). Now he's been gifted the possibility of Iran throwing out the religious rulers, which would be a massive power shift in the Middle East. He's going to grab that opportunity.
  3. While some are mentioning the Floyd protests, I don't think Trump remembers that far back (or would even remember what city it happened in). I think it's because Minnesota was seen as an easy pushover state. A blue state of less than 6 million people, over half of whom are around the Twin Cities. He was clowned in California and Illinois, so he kept shifting things around until he thought he found a state he could push around. He doesn't really want to do this shit in a red state for a couple of reasons - You run the risk of hurting Republican businesses in a red state. Take the cheap labor away from home builders, developers, farmers/ranchers, etc., and they get pissed (and/or go bankrupt or at least lose money). It's why, for all of the bullshit, they don't try and dry up the jobs by going after companies that employ them. Imagine shutting down every homebuilder in Texas that employes more than a hundred illegal immigrants, and how that would go over. You run the risk of flipping at least some of the political races in the state. ICE would probably run into some serious shit in some of the border red states, at least in the south. A few thousand ICE agents stand out in a city of less than half a million. They don't stand out in Houston. And imagine them nabbing Cuban-Americans off the streets of Miami (which flipped blue) and how that would impact Florida elections in the future. Minnesota was a perfect target for Trump and Co. - already blue, fairly small population, would put up less of a fight than Illinois or California, and Trump personally hated the governor. Except Minnesotans are organizing and harassing ICE and trying to keep them in check where they can. That should worry Trump and Puppy Killer and the others.
  4. That could be the thread he was referring, since she was obviously destined for something big. That makes more sense than Spider/Quaritch.
  5. I'd like him to get up in front of Congress and say "Look, I did the same stuff that Donald Trump did!"
  6. He said in an interview that if he doesn't get the additional movies, he would write a book that would close out the one dangling plot line from Fire & Ash. We've already guessed what it is on this thread, but I'm guessing it's something to do with Spider/Quaritch.
  7. When we saw Avatar a few days after New Year's, there was quite a crowd for Stranger Things - people dressed up in Stranger Things gear (Hellfire Club) or as characters (Scoops Ahoy, etc.). If I had been caught up, I would have totally went to that - would have been fun to see it with people. Sony owns Columbia/TriStar. That's a helluva back catalogue they could be pumping through Alamo theaters when movie sales are slow.
  8. This tells me we need to start a private school. We will make sure they leave with an intolerance of aggy and OU. Will they worship Darrell K Royal?
  9. I've said this a lot in the immigration threads - these people come here because there are higher-paying jobs and a better situation than they had back in their home countries, full stop. It's the same reason our European ancestors came here in the 1600s and 1700s (or later if that's your family history). If we want to reduce the amount coming in, we do two things: Dry up the jobs. Prosecute businesses and people who hire them without proper verification (places like Tyson Foods and various real estate developers love to hire them - hammer those companies and things would change). Look at what could be done to improve the conditions in their home countries. I don't mean Trump and Co. wanting to invade multiple countries or decapitate the leadership. I mean is there something we can do to help improve their economy or local systems, and hey, if we improve their economy, it opens markets for American businesses, win-win. Ironically, USAID was helping with that, when we shipped food to places that needed it. It would be cheaper and better than Trump hiring a bunch of unqualified people to go beat up anybody that glances sideways at them, and spending way too much money on border walls. It would keep more of our farmers employed (national security benefit right there) and it would stabilize our food prices.
  10. I know this as well - our friends up there have plenty of MAGA relatives and friends who want ICE gone. They may not be out protesting or showing up to challenge ICE when they get notifications from this or that group, but they are not happy and they are pissed at Noem and some of them feel like this will blow up into something even bigger, and they do not want that.
  11. Trump credit card rate cap: JPMorgan Chase says banks could fight Global central bankers defend Fed Chair Jerome Powell First Trump gets rejected by Exxon, then told off by Powell, and now this. He's going to be angry. Cuba better watch their cornhole.
  12. If he thought he could declare martial law, and federalize the NG, he would have already done it - he's not a complex person. Instead, he got neutered over the National Guard stuff, and he got embarrassed in California (remember when Los Angelas was more dangerous than Fallujah?) and Illinois, and now ICE is being challenged in Minnesota. I do believe some want violence, because they want the American people to fear ICE, not organize online to meet ICE face-to-face and challenge them for warrants, with cameras, when they show up somewhere, etc. Locals are now tracking ICE and their activity everywhere in Minneapolis. What is being done in a smallish city in Minnesota (425,000 or so people, although the metroplex is over 3 million) in terms of challenging ICE would easily scale up in Los Angeles or Houston or NYC. I think they will kill one or more Americans in the next few weeks and I think we will see a lot more beatdowns. They have to try and reestablish that they are in control and should be feared and that they control the narrative, instead of being mocked for not being able to handle ice, etc.. Puppy Killer is angry that the people aren't buying her narrative. And as I said, Trump will be happy that it's taking Epstein and Venezuela and Greenland out of the news.
  13. One thing that I really think needs to be done more, and Alamo actually does this quite a bit, is bringing back older films. It should be much easier now that things have been digital for a while, it's not like they are shipping massive reels of film. My oldest has never seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy - he's read all of the books, including the extended/history/whatever, and I have had him waiting for a while, knowing we would find them in theaters again, and they are coming out this weekend for the next few weeks, for the 25th anniversary. And the original theatrical cut of Star Wars is coming out next year. And we've seen the Indiana Jones movies at Alamo, and Alamo and Paramount here in Austin run their summer programs with older movies (Goonies, etc.). Go after the Gen Xers and maybe slightly younger who have kids and who want their kids to see the movies of their youth in theaters. Give me Back to the Future and I'll bring my son. Hell, throw the original Jurassic Park in theaters for a few weeks, a lot of us would bring our kids.

  15. If you want to see Russians being hunted down by drones, but it's brutal ( just imagining future warfare is shit right out of Terminator 2) More Russians being hunted
  16. More than 20% of the vessels of the Russian "shadow fleet" have stopped, — Zelensky The head of state announced this following the report of the first deputy head of the SVR and added that this indicator was achieved thanks to the coordinated efforts of Ukraine and partners. Zelensky said that the sanctions pressure on the tanker crews and the entire infrastructure of the Russian "shadow fleet" will continue. It is expected that all restrictions on Russian maritime exports will reduce enemy revenues by at least $ 30 billion.

Our message is clear: Greenland is not for sale. We have made that clear from the start, just as we have said to the Americans from the very beginning that if it's about security, there is much more we can and should do together, and we will repeat that at tomorrow's meeting. We want to strengthen security cooperation in the Arctic—with the United States, NATO, Europe, and our Arctic NATO allies. Just as the Baltic states do not defend NATO’s eastern flank alone, security in the Arctic is a shared responsibility. NATO must protect Greenland as it does every part of its territory, and that collective guarantee is the strongest defense against Russian or Chinese threats in the Arctic. This is an out for Trump if it is truly about security, they can have a meeting and the US can ask to reopen a base or two that we closed after the Cold War, and everybody walks away satisfied. If it's about the minerals for Trump's donors, or Trump is still being fed disinformation by the Russians, then the US will keep talking about acquiring it.
  19. Do we have to contact the Russians first to get an escort setup well in advance and then rename it and run it?
  20. Sorry, you're misunderstanding me (and it's my fault, I'm half-joking), and we have a lot of friends/acquaintances (or our kids' classmates/friends) who fall into the categories you mention. I even have a birthright citizenship sister-in-law who originally supported all of this but now realizes she may lose her American citizenship and she's freaking the fuck out. I wasn't meaning turn in the people you are talking about, I meant tell our family/friends that are supporting this stuff in Minnesota that we need to turn them in for aiding and abetting those people. I couldn't tell you the names or any other information about the lawn guys my mom used for 20+ years that were clearly not here legally and who did her roof and her siding on two different houses, but I can easily provide half-a-dozen witnesses who would vouch that she was employing people who were not here legally. Edit: I want these people think about the fact that they are cheering people being hunted down, whom our friends/relatives/whatever trusted to work in and around their homes and children.
  21. Exxon wasn't planning on dumping tens of billions into Venezuela, so now Trump isn't going to let them dump tens of billions into Venezuela... Trump doesn't understand that these companies are thinking down the road when he's out of office and if his successor wants nothing to do with Venezuela, then their shit will get nationalized again.
  22. I think the Fed stuff is him being angry that somebody won't kiss the ring and he thinks he's the smartest guy when it comes to the economy. As far as ICE, I think Trump found his golden goose - something that is distracting everybody from Venezuela/Greenland and the Epstein Files. And he's freaking out about losing his tariff case and not getting his base out to vote in the fall. I think some or most of the ICE stuff is them rounding up illegals to scare his base into thinking they are a bigger problem than they are. Edit: Unfortunately now that people are openly challenging ICE and finding ways to defeat them, he can't risk looking weak, so ICE is either going to have to beat up a lot more people and/or kill somebody, or he's going to have to find a way to let it fade like he did with California, i.e. another distraction (Greenland?).
