  1. “Because any Dem is going to lose a close one to Paxton, I’m gonna throw my vote away in the R primary and watch the nut jobs win the nomination by double digits, hurr DUUURRRR!”
  2. berlinerbaer replied to a post in a topic in Cloak Room
No no no no no no no and no. You ain’t turning that runaway train around.
  3. Those kind of power grabs have only worked in the past when the head of state and party in power are popular. Chavez and Orban both eroded the institutions when they had general popular support. And it took several years.
  4. Your takes are generally pretty bad and this one is no exception. Talarico’s response was solid if not perfect. He did what every Dem running statewide should, and that’s acknowledge that Allred’s 2024 campaign was garbage. It’s now up to the intelligence of Texas Dem primary voters.
  5. I think the Democratic Party base has changed, even in Texas. Race card bullshit won’t work anymore and could backfire.
  6. This is going to be the thread where the resident conservatives pretend to care about policy, with no shred of irony or hypocrisy.
  7. Happy for him. Go Bears!
  8. I’ve warmed to Crockett as a candidate since she came on the scene this week. She has a unique political talent of being able to hit hard without coming off as a nag. Think of a friend or big sister rather than your mother. She has to walk a tightrope, sure, but she seems capable and so does Jimmy. We are lucky to have two good candidates this go around. I hope someone good challenges Abbott so we can have a solid ballot top to bottom.
  9. Cuellar won’t matter by 2027. Dems are going to net 20 - 40 seats in the midterms. The House then won’t be like the Senate was in 2021. 14 point flip, almost the same as last weeks election in TN.
  10. Fuck it. He’s tarnished now. Primary his ass. Who was it who almost beat him back in 2020? Where’s she at? If he loses he’ll run as an indie to try to throw the seat to the GOP but at least he won’t win.
  11. Isn’t she running for NY governor?
  12. berlinerbaer replied to Pancho's topic in Cloak Room
She should run for governor instead
  13. Trump -14 in Georgia? Ho Lee Fuk that is baaaad
  14. Every R outside New England runs behind Trump, and that’s with him carrying them across during presidential elections. In off-year/midterms we should expect them to do even worse.
