Hey Steel Shank!
While it may not be (today) in the true spirit of the thread, I beg forgiveness of the masses, because @BabaYaga originally posted the recipe here. There was a marked down Waygu chuck roast at HEB this morning. So I bought it and all the fixings…. And yes, HEB got their first fresh batch of hatch in. Wish they were spicier, but the mushrooms, carrots, and onions absorbed just a tinge of spice and were perfect. Cant wait for the sandwiches tomorrow. I’ll probably skip the Waygu next time, because although the flavor was fantastic, it wasn’t as tender as I like my pot roast. $9 Waygu chuck roast, so hopefully @Steel Shank can at least approve that.

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
Can’t answer for him, but my grandmother, in a long term care facility in LBK, just finished her 14 day quarantine because she had a breakthrough infection. Luckily she was first round of Pfizer back in January, so she was just tired and loss of appetite. Which is really luck as she is in her mid 80’s, and had a stroke this time last year, hence why she is in a LTC facility. Also, fuck LBK. Cesspool of a city, with cesspool residents who can’t get their shit together.

Tell me about Ruidoso in the summer
We went in early May on the return portion of a two week trip to Taos and Santa Fe. Just a couple of days. Back then, tons of restaurants were only open for dinner, and only open maybe 2-3 days per week. 2 of the places we wanted to eat at while we were there were closed our entire stay. Lots of shops closed on the main drag. Not just temporarily, but cleared out. Drove by the Inn and the Links and they looked like shells of their former glory days (I had not been to Ruidoso in probably 15 years). It was also very dry. Forest looked like it desperately needed rain. I've heard since then, they have had flooding issues.

Formula 1 2021
That’s interesting. Several years back Mercedes estimated a bad Lewis crash at almost double that, and they were able to salvage the PU.

Formula 1 2021
Yeah, I’m not sure your math checks out there Lou…… it’s gonna be significantly more than that. Even more if he has to use a new PU.

Don’t use ratchets, they can misform/break the plastic on the boats. The cam buckle straps are more than enough. Just buy some quality ones. Make sure to run some safety lines to the front and rear if you are worried about it. Honestly, I’ve had mine without them on the top out on 130 coming back from running the San Marcos a hundred times going 85 with no issues. I’ve paddled all over the state, and as long as you have them secure, and check them when you stop you will be great. And now that I recall, you have a cruiser, so you should be fine with two boats straight on the bars unless you have just really wide boats.

Do you have bars already? Depending on how many boats and width of boats, I’d just toss them upside down right on the bars. That’s what I do when not using my trailer. I did use the Malone Sea Wings for a while and liked them. I’m not a huge fan of the U Cradles on the roof as they are not as secure as other options up that high (but I do use them on my trailer so I can haul 4 boats). there are some specialty holders from the big names, but they are expensive.

Not peer reviewed. I posted without comment because I’m as far from an expert as possible and was interested in opinions of those that are. Appreciate the input.

Your best bullshit to get out of a ticket
I’m from Lubbock. Was driving home one Xmas from school. Was on the road between Winters and Sweetwater. This was right around the time that they started building all the windmills out there, and I did not know it. That was usually a stretch of highway that I saw no-one and could make up some time. I was in my 93 Ford Explorer and was giving it all she had. Had a Best Buy special Cobra Radar detector, and was in the area of that stretch oh highway where you could see for miles. I vaguely see a car way off in the distance, but could not identify it as DPS yet. Right about then my Cobra starts screaming. Well I stomp on the brakes enough to lock the tires (got that car sucked). By the time I met the trooper, he was stationary with his lights on. Had no idea what he clocked me at, but could have been as high as 95. Well he comes up and gives me the spiel, and asks me how fast I was going. Told him I wasn’t sure, tired from finals, just trying to get home. Said he saw 80, but it didnt lock till 71. Said he and I both knew I was doing well faster than that. Got a long lecture about the heavy truck traffic because of windmills, and I was an idiot for using this stretch to make up time. Sonovabitch gave me a ticket for 71 in a 70. That stretch of road has never been the same since those windmills went up.
