In general this seems to be what I would expect, however Krazy Kiffin and Norvell at Free Shoes seemed to excel. This is just from memory, so if my examples are incorrect please fire away.
While this is undeniable, I give Super Bill a lot of credit for the way he handled it. Changed positions twice in '68 and never complained, a real team player. Of course, it also worked out pretty well for him also. 😉
He won more games than Street, but he also lost more. That’s a big deal imo.
Us olds remember the turmoil around the program entering the 1968 season. Difficult to remember now, but I would argue that James Street saved DKR’s job.

Street was not just the catalyst for the team back then, but somewhat of a rock star on campus. I grew up in the same small town with his 1969 roommate OT Bob McKay. Bob once told me they had to get an unlisted phone number because of all of the girls calling. He added "they sure as hell weren't calling me."
I really meant I'd rather have the team win a bunch of games rather than the Heisman, contrary to his original point. The Heisman doesn't mean much to me. But yeah, of course I want us to win the title. Which I think you could do with 2 losses in the regular season (maybe?).
Winning a bunch of games keeps us relevant for recruiting and winning in future seasons. JMO
Heismans? Think I'd rather see us win 14 than for one or our guys to win that (unless of course we win the NC). Reggie Bush winning the statue by doing dance steps around Fresno St changed my view.
The player who took flight in that first video was Rice's Michael Downs, who played safety for the Dallas Cowboys for several years. Earl was a bad, bad man. 🤘
That is a good point about schedule. With these mega conferences, some schools will avoid the tough ones, and some (Florida) will get hammered. There is a wider variation in SOS than what we had previously, which will affect W-L records significantly.
As CTJ said, it is difficult to tell for several reasons. One thing I can tell for sure is that the new regime was much more aggressive recruiting and in the portal than the previous one.
went to that game. stayed in NYC and took the train. decent trip, caught NYY-Bos baseball and should have done some US Open tennis but the spouse limited my sports somewhat...
I love how Jahdae ended the interview regarding the move to the SEC: "We're ready". Pretty familiar quote for Longhorns who have been around a while.
😉 🤘
