Bourbon
After 9 holes of golf I’m really enjoying a generous pour of Benchmark No.8 right now. Under $20 for a handle. Lots of good bourbon out there. After a shitty week things are looking up here in Houston. Hope everyone is safe and warm out there.

2020-21 Winter weather; bring it on
I have a tankless water heater in the attic so after I turned off the water into the house I just turned on several hot and cold water spigots around the house until they ran dry.

Enjoying a triple shot of WT 101 after a shitty week that’s ending on a hopeful note.

2020-21 Winter weather; bring it on
I wrap too (below my cutoff valve) but I am team cut your fucking water off as close as you can to the city supply and then drain your pipes/water heater as best as you can. Before you do that fill your tubs with water to flush your toilets. I’ve been doing that for 30+ years at three homes and never had a problem. If a pipe does break it doesn’t pour water all over the house. And I posted way up thread about this, but dripping your water is a horrible idea. Firefighters couldn’t put out fires because, among other things, too many people are running their faucets.

Houston is all good. There’s a mom and her 8 year old in basketball shorts sitting next to me at Smoothy Island on Woodway.

Yes: Pools are worth it....
Correct on the algae. And at current temps chlorine demand in general is very low. If chlorine gets a little low just add some regular bleach.

2020-21 Winter weather; bring it on
Many here are suggesting to keep your water dripping all day/night to prevent your pipes from freezing. The “experts” used to tell us that would impair water pressure all over the city and instead to turn your water off and drain as much water as possible. Has something changed with the water system over the last 10-15 years?

lawyer has a hard time with zoom
Judge Jerry Buchmeyer is up above having a good laugh. His always entertaining column in the Texas Bar Journal was the first thing I would read.

Victoria (TX, not BC)
^^This was talked about a lot in the 70’s.

Victoria (TX, not BC)
Little known fact. When the nearby oil field came in Victoria had the most millionaires per capita than any place in the US.

Your unpopular food opinions
I made wings in the air fryer for the super bowl and for ease of preparation and very little mess they exceeded expectations. 25 min at 400 degrees then dumped in a bowl of Franks and melted butter. Very hard to beat for the small amount of effort involved.

Bourbon
It will be unpopular here, but why is it bad customer service for a merchant to sell his inventory at fair market value?

Year of Living Dangerously
On TCM now. I love this movie. It was on cable a ton during my years at UT. Great movie and brings back a lot of memories.

Shit you’re making for Super Bowl Sunday?
Search the internet for Alton Brown’s wing recipe. They are steamed, refrigerated and then baked. They are very good.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
It’s both.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
^^ correct. It’s not poor grammar. It’s extraordinarily poor pronunciation.

Daddy does oil and all that that implies.
Filmed in the Theater District. There’s also Local Hero. Mostly filmed in Scotland but several cool scenes of Chase Tower. And it’s an awesome movie.

This. There’s another Houston that many people don’t really know about.

Sissy is a cheating whore and Pam is, at worst, a home wrecker.

Loved it when Bud beats the shit out of Scott Glenn and the money goes flying like the old OU QB gif.

I also use Dr. Scholl’s heel inserts in my shoes. It just took a week or so and no running/tennis/golf and I haven’t had a problem since.

I love it. God help me, I do love it so.
That's interesting. I just saw the list of quotes on rottentomatoes linked by Kyrie (still love that ass in the avatar) and the quote re: erroneous quotes. When did Patton say that in the film? Here's a transcript of the screenplay: https://subslikescript.com/movie/Patton-66206. That quote does not appear.

Again, at least with my quote, I included the last part of the soliloquy that Patton, as a narrator, gives in the last scene of the film. You saw the ending, right? Patton’s telling of the famous Roman parade tradition is perhaps the most important part of the film. If you are saying that a quote has to a part of a conversation vs a narration, then ok, I guess.

Wat? Not giving the entire sentence is not grievously erroneous.
