I have no inside info and could easily be wrong, but this really does feel like he’s simply hanging it up for good. He’s been on the scene for almost 40 years and just seems to be ready to retire from the grind of touring and being in the studio creating new music.
I've long thought that Matt's drumming style and personality was key to Pearl Jam's longevity. He always came across as super consistent, reliable, and professional, which is essentially a requirement for a band known for long live shows and a massive studio catalogue.
Because of the union, he was paid the daily rate an extra would get. Because Candy was there, Hughes was on set that day, the only day he was on set for Home Alone. 20+ hour day, supposedly.
Yep. Outside the obvious merch moneygrab, the point of a throwback uniform is that you strengthen your brand by allowing fans to reminisce about watching their team play in those uniforms again. Nobody in central Tennessee from the 60’s-90’s grew up watching and rooting for the Oilers or even had the slightest connection.
I just have a hard time believing a Tennessee based franchise’s bottom line is best served by a cheap moneygrab inspired by a decades old grudge between a dead Houston billionaire’s beef with a dead Houston mayor, as opposed to focusing on their own market.
Sengun looked VERY gassed after practice on Thursday. He seemed to have hit it pretty hard in the bay for allstar weekend. He’s young, he’ll be back to form quickly, but probably not for a few more days.
