Non-Texas weather. The all-encompassing thread
Even more terrifying. Slip and slide my big ass down the hill, into what I "hope" is frozen water, and unable to get back up the hill. This is the thing of nightmares.....

Non-Texas weather. The all-encompassing thread
Nice. An aggressively steep bank, covered in snow and ice that leads directly to icy, frozen water.

New series from David E. Kelley: The Lincoln Lawyer
Finished up last night. Great series. Chriqui is naughty on a biblical scale. And yes, the books are better.

right! When you acquire an old mobster-controlled building, this is the shit you HOPE you find! Anyway, I'd have probably called the police as well.

World War II History Thread
Just started Operation Gladio last night. Wow. Still wrapping my head around what I've read so far: Stay-behind network modeled after Nazi ("werewolves") to fight the Communists behind enemy lines. Biggest focus was in Italy, but spread to all of Europe (NATO and non-NATO countries) Mafia had a shared hatred with Musollini (who almost wiped them out). They were collaborated with on a massive scale During the war, the ports were locked down for fear of Nazi sabotage. Big-wig mafia boss jailed, so to get him out, Mafi destroyed a freighter in dock, blamed it on the Nazis.....leading to the release of sed Mafia Don and US dependence on their "network". OSS morphed into many names, culminating with the CIA - which had almost zero oversight CIA had to fund their operations. Following the precedent set with the Opium Wars, they started funneling opium in Harlem, creating a dependent client base. Where is the money housed? Enter the Bank of the Vatican. Enter the distribution of the Mafia, who prior saw drugs as "beneath them". I'm still early into the book, but damn. This same playbook has been used time and time again. Oliver North. Laos/Vietnam. Today in Afghanistan. It's a parallel history of Gladio, the rise of the Mafia, the inception and reach of the CIA, and the banking industry. All intertwined.

Running and Jogging and Shuffling
This is the way.... Keep two rucks in the covered bed of the truck. When the kids were little and I shuttled them around to practice I'd just ruck for an hour or so. I found that parking garages are the tits. It's covered and the constant elevation is an ass kicker, then when I get to the top, I take the stairs down and repeat as many times as I can. I just happen to hate running. Playing sports all the time, it was always a punishment. I just like the constant pressure of a ruck and you can just zone out, listen to music or a podcast/book.

Time for another ‘my dog is awesome’ thread
Same. It's the belly and face. I'll give the larger poodle mix a big ear scratching session and then she goes off and sneezes and shakes like she's covered in dust.

Wednesday night, wife and I are on the couch. I'm watching some show with a glass of wine, she's on her phone. She "says" she told me, but Thursday evening she show's up with this little monster. "Zoey".....or as I call her now, Joey. Joey-Bagadicks. Because this little dick-bag got a hold of a pair of boots of mine.... And yes, she's funny, smart, and adorable. Took her up to Scheels over the weekend in a cart and she was the life of the party. Some kind of pit/alligator mix. Already a princess. Loves to be carried around like a little purse dog. Already housebroken. 3 months. We're "fostering"....which I think means I have a new dog....- World War II History Thread
Good friend is half Filipino. His grandfather had scars on his lower legs from a Japanese grenade. He lived in caves for months as part of the resistance during the occupation- Running and Jogging and Shuffling
Put the incline at 15, or whatever the max is and keep the speed slow. 2.5-3 and just walk. It’s an ass kicker but it does the job over time. - Diego Pavia - The Chihuahua that thinks he's a Mastiff
