Did the Amazon RMA and dropped it off at the UPS store earlier today. Had to run an errand after and realized I was right by a Best Buy who had the same drive in stock. Installed it when I got home and it fired right up.
Got the new shiny hard drive (WD Black 6GB), and it sounds like it it trying to spin up with repeated clicks when the system is powered on and then stops (video w sound below). The drive is recognized by the BIOS and Disk Manager but won't initialize. I swapped the SATA slot on the motherboard and did scan for new hardware, nothing changes. I'm just going to have to return this thing? Edit: I've given up, it also failed to partition using an external USB SATA adapter.
Jordan Montgomery back per Evan Grant, the siren song of an older player with a significant arm injury was just too much for this front office to resist.
I'm having flashbacks to trying to get enough RAM freed up through autoexec.bat and config.sys to run Strike Commander, the kids have no idea how good they have it!
I've got a old 1TB Western Digital HDD (WD1002faex) on my computer that I use as extra storage for pictures, old work and such. I don't use it very often and it is set to sleep (it spins up when I open the folder). I starting thinking last night about it, and came to the conclusion that it is been in use for over 15 years. I'm going to run a drive utility later to see what the hours are. My current thought it to replace it, perhaps in a 2x RAID mirror/backup configuration. I was looking at two 4tb green Seagate barracudas, the are $89.00 each on Amazon right now. Good idea? Bad idea? I definitely want a backup of the data, seems cheaper than paying monthly. Speed of the drive is irrelevant to me.
I was talking to to some buddies a few months ago about a new Whataburger in Glen Rose that has the full drive through door that opens and they walk out (some chikfilas have the same thing), and we were noting that that wasn't a good idea everywhere for various reasons and used the Whataburger at McCart and Altamesa as a specific example. So I am doubting that HEB is going to build a flagship store in that location.
Ubisoft lost 30% of their stock value today or yesterday and halted trading while announcing a bunch of game cancellations and internal reorganization, yikes.
Speaking of fine dining, I went to Dos Mares for the first time last weekend. They didn't have any broccoli that flew too close to the sun, but the rack of lamb was excellent.
Rangers sign journeyman relief pitcher Jakob Junis to a 1 year deal worth $4 million. Per baseball reference, 6-3 238lb (beefy) righty, 3.06 ERA, 7.4 SO/9 (yay) and 1.23 WHIP (concerning) heavy on the hits with CLE last season.
