OSU/Iowa, the Lakers/Celtics of college wrestling....
Union wrestled at Rolla on Tuesday. Rolla pretty much smoked Union. I could not believe how many kids that Rolla had there. I did a little digging and their coach posted something on Twitter about having over 100 in their wrestling for the third year in a row. That is crazy.

Random thoughts that don't warrant a thread
Fuck. I'm at work and was dumb enough to watch that. I had my headphones on, but I'm sure that my laughing sounded almost as funny as that chicken.

2019 St Louis Cardinals
I was listening to Miklasz this morning on the drive to work. He mentioned that MLB has stated that they are going to interview current and past employees of the Astros regarding the sign stealing investigation. Jeff Albert worked for the Astros in 2018, so he will likely be one that they talk to. It's obvious that the Cardinals aren't stealing signs (or if they are, they really suck at it), but it should at least be interesting.

Yeah, I thought about talking shit, but decided that someone from our organization actually going to the federal penitentiary is a bit worse.

Time for another ‘my dog is awesome’ thread
Maybe belongs in Can You Help Me with This, but this is the thread for dog lovers. I've posted a few pictures of Sadie in this thread. She's a 2 year old Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix. We got her from a rescue a little over a month ago. She's very patient, doesn't jump on people, potty trained, and the sweetest dog I've ever had. In short, this dog has worked her way into our hearts in a very short time. What I have started to see though, is that she has been mistreated in the past, and by the male in her house. There are little signs of it. About a week ago, I was working at home (bad weather day). When I work from home, she comes downstairs to the basement and spends much of the day with me. When she wants something, she gets up and comes over to me. Usually it's just some petting that she wants. That particular day, I reached down to pet her and when I touched her, I got shocked. I pulled my had back and that poor dog cowered in fear. There have been a few other instances where she cowers and it breaks my heart. I soothe her and everything is good, but I hate that she still has a fear of what appears to be me. My question to the other dog lovers is this: Will she ever lose that fear? I do not want this dog to think that I'm going to beat her, ever. I want her to respect me, but I'm almost afraid to even speak to her in a stern voice because she'll get scared. Edited to add a story from yesterday. Sadie loves to go with me everywhere. Yesterday I was about to go out for a bit and she could tell. She was at the door ready to go. I put her on the leash and we went out. The wife was already out there and I needed to put some wiper fluid in the vehicle. As soon as I opened the hood, this big girl jumped in the engine compartment and landed on the engine. Thank God it wasn't running. I lifted her out and she was unhurt. She just figured that was another way into my truck.

OSU/Iowa, the Lakers/Celtics of college wrestling....
It's time! Boys officially start practice today after receiving a beat down in the first round of the football playoffs. Secretly, I'm glad football season is over so that wrestling can get going.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
Semper Fi. I was a Marine too. You're correct in that the Navy isn't going to rescind his contract or anything like that. The boy has his priorities set though and the Navy is number one. Luckily he probably has 3 more football games to play. Their last regular season game is tonight, then playoffs. They'll likely win one game in the playoffs and get bounced in the second round. Right after that wrestling starts, but that coach is much more understanding of other commitments. My boy has always placed team events first in wrestling. So, if there are competing obligations, he will do wrestling if it's a team event. If it's an individual thing, like a tournament, he'll likely skip it (depending on what the other event is).

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
High school football coaches in general. My oldest is a senior and has started on OL at RT every game beginning with game 1 his sophomore season. He has also played every snap on offense during that time. He is also in band, so for home games he stays out with the band, performs, then runs into the locker room. He also enlisted in the Navy shortly after his junior year ended. Once a month he has a mandatory meeting with the other Navy recruits in the area on a Thursday. Therefore, once a month, he misses the walkthrough practice on Thursday. This season he has been playing with some slight back pain since week 2 or 3. A couple of weeks ago he went to see the trainer about it, so he missed the first part of practice. Then on Thursday, it was the day for his mandatory Navy meeting. Coach (28 or 29 year old first year head coach) decides to make an example and discipline him for missing practice. Sits the kid for the first half of his senior year homecoming game. He's been fucking with my boy since then. I honestly think it's because my boy is also in band and so he doesn't see him as being fully bought in to football. I can't say anything, because I have another kid on the team that is a sophomore. Plus, I don't want to be 'that' dad. The senior is pretty good. He's been on one visit to a small college and others have asked. He's made his mind up, so he's not going to see any other colleges. Kid is 6'4", 285, and is a road grader in run blocking and is also a very good pass blocker. Hasn't had a penalty called on him since game 1 of his junior year. TL/DR: High school football coaches are trivial and they make me surly. And yeah, this is trivial, I know.
