  1. Wife and I have been thoroughly enjoying Gravity Falls on Disney+ with our 9 and 13 year olds. Something for everyone.
  2. I married an Aggy. She’s awesome and I love her. She was severely angry for about an hour plus a nap. Upon awakening she realized it was the Aggy way and got on with her life, and did her part toward making our three kids happy. My wife’s attitude and these games have made this a damn good weekend.
  3. It hit so hard I didn’t read for weeks after East of Eden. Do you recommend anything else that can come close to scratching the same itch? I’m a big Wolfe fan, too. The Son wasn’t bad for the multi-generational viewpoint.
  4. I’m due for a reread. Wife bought me an early edition copy for my birthday. One of the rare times she outdid me on gifts.
  5. Dude is so fun to watch. Picks his hole and goes 100-fucking%. I admire Wisner’s patience, particularly in the aggy game, but too many times there were yards to get by going hard AF instead.
  6. No matter what I tell my aggy wife about aggy being in CFP and us not (probably), she doesn’t care. She’s still crying. Even promised me head back when they had the lead in the first half. Surely she’ll remember her promise later.
  7. I would take Eget today over Arch. No hyperbole.
  8. Reminds me of the absolute blood feud between the Imperial Japanese Navy and Army in WW2. They despised one another and constantly bickered over resources. By late 1944 the US Navy had ground the Japanese Navy into powder. Before Leyte Gulf, the IJN, knowing it was done for, practically begged the army for a chunk of their last bit of oil so they could sail gloriously to their deaths against the combined US fleet at their pinnacle of power. The U.S. Navy obliged them in the biggest one sided naval battle ever. Sure would be great if Venables sent out Mateer on a naked bootleg agains our Nascar line at the end of a 56-0 game for one first and last score.
  9. Facebook “friend” through my wife. These pieces of shit want to see this place burn.
  10. Watched season one and dug the shit out of it, so I played through the games for the first time before season two came out. TLOU Part 2 is a top 3 all-time gaming experience for me; after I finished it hung with me for weeks. My wife HATES to watch me play anything and she sat through to the bitter end just for the cutscenes. I get how others might not have had the same experience as us, but for some reason that game was damn near perfect and I’m glad I got to share it with my wife who felt similarly. I’ll keep watching the next seasons just because. I’ll remain thankful that I still have that first experience with the game to think back on. The show can’t change that. Last thing: I can’t fathom why the creator of the game took part in taking the most resonant motivations of the game and neutered them. Adding in the Chernobyl guy and it got even worse? Make it make sense.
  11. What were your exposure settings for the bottom pic?
  12. Further, for kids under 12 (my family falls in this category), it looks like you choose to either stand in line for two hours for autographs or do the on-field stuff. Sophie’s choice shit right there.
  13. My 14-year-old has shared different versions of this sentiment (you can guess which version) and I advised her not to voice it at all in case she slips up and repeats it somewhere she really shouldn’t. Lately I’ve stopped even pretending to care. We all get it.
  14. Had it. Loved it. Not a connoisseur.
  15. Ok I watched it. Wouldn’t put it in a bracket, but quite enjoyable and worth a watch on a non-football weekend.
  16. Is Nutcrackers on Hulu decent?
  17. My wife’s ex-husband (a cop), his parents, and my FIL are all stalwart Rs. All voted D for the first time ever without any coaxing. Supposedly it was out of consideration for the two daughters/granddaughters.
  18. I’ve half-heartedly called some of these track stars “cute” or “pretty” just as my wife has openly admired some swimmer dudes. But I know better than to say what I really feel about Anna or Sydney. My god, they are breathtaking.
  19. WashHorn replied to Captain Ron's topic in Futbol
Granted I’m biased for Spain, but I’m still livid their best player is out from a dirty tackle without anything more than a flaccid finger wave from the ref.

How on earth did the German not get a yellow for that tackle on Pedri. Huge.

I usually have to drag my wife into watching soccer, but she was glued to the tv the last 30.
  22. How does this even come up in conversation? Interviewer: “Who’s the hardest player you’ve had to cover in space?” TO: “I don’t understand what the hell you’re even talking about which is why I had to transfer out from a perfectly fine situation and into Lubbock fucking Texas.”
  23. I’ve reread the series several times and recognized very little from the trailers. This being one of my all-time favorite series, I have major concerns B&W are improvising far too much. They did such a great job adapting GOT seasons 1-5, I had high hopes for this. I’ll watch but my expectations are greatly diminished.
