  1. Counterpoint: A significant number of Texas voters who might swing (not that kind of swinging) might also not be at a place where their ready to vote for a Black woman over [insert Republican nominee]. I wish that wasn't the case, but I think that's an honest take of the current Texas electorate, and because of that I, and a lot of other Democratic voters, think Talarico stands a better chance. But what the fuck do I know. If Crockett does not win the primary, it would be ideal if she realizes the opportunity for the Dems, gets over it, and gets behind Talarico. Everything I've heard from Talarico suggests he would do the same.
  2. I think Paxton understands he doesn't see eye to eye with Colbert.
  3. Crockett seems full of shit on this, and whiny because of all the free publicity Talarico is getting. In any event, the timing of the interview and news around it couldn't have been better for the Talarico campaign, right as early voting in the primary kicks off.
  4. I want nothing about that man's death to be peaceful.
  5. Same. "Worse than Auburn" is not something I would have guessed for Tech.
  6. I will forbid my law firm from ever hiring an aggy law school graduate.
  7. My notes from Nashville: The Hermitage is on par with The Four Seasons and way cheaper. Favorite meals were Henrietta Red in Germantown and Adele’s in The Gulch (where we unexpectedly got a chef’s table and it was like watching an episode of The Bear). We enjoyed etch, but it was a fixed course Valentine’s meal, and it didn’t feel like they brought their A game. Restaurant and bar staff in Nashville are super friendly. The Gulch feels like South Congress. Kinda trendy and a cool place to explore. But a gentrified area with mostly high-end restaurant chains and retail, and not as charming as other neighborhoods, like Germantown. Old Glory is an awesome bar located in a former boiler room of a 1920’s laundromat. Definitely worth a stop. The comparisons between Nashville and Austin are fair. Similar vibes, pretty towns, vibrant live music scene, popular destinations for girls weekends, etc. But Nashville is way more country, and more purple than blue. We’d go back again some day – it’s an easy direct flight from Austin and a quick ride from the airport to downtown. But there’s a lot of places we’ll go before Nashville again.
  8. Noem disabled it.
  9. I lived in a shitty freshman dorm that had no AC. But I was away from home and thought it was the best place ever.
  10. It’s pouring (in Nashville).
