Lovely: The price of water in the U.S. (especially Austin) is skyrocketing
That’s amazing. If any of you have the 60 Minutes app they did a great piece about this a few years ago

Texas Re-Opening Announced
Yea the Arbor Walk thing is surprising. The City of Austin has been, in my experience, doing extremely well with mask wearing. When you get outside the city into the suburbs though...yikes It’s frustrating to read articles about countries like New Zealand effectively eradicating the virus while it spreads like an uncontrolled wildfire here in the good ‘ole US of A.

Donald Trump 2020
Remember when the Nebraska poster on here (BoBigRed?) would have those fantastic must-read Sunday morning reviews of the previous day’s college football games? That’s what this thread is to me this morning. Keep it coming.

AISD's (and other districts) Plans for Schools Starting August 18
Temperature checks at the door for 1300 middle schoolers sure sounds fun. That should extend opening bell until about 11am or so.

Vast of Night (Amazon Prime Original movie)
Agreed. I’d give it a B- or so but man, that first twenty minutes was a beating. If you enjoyed VON, there’s a movie called Cosmos on Amazon Prime you should check out. Very similar film and despite being slower paced, it’s much better IMO.

Zero percent chance of rain today. Yet it’s raining and lightning downtown. Weird. But I’ll take it.

Donald Trump 2020
That Trump tweet about the SC is so...normal. I’m sure he’ll say something in the next 48 hours though to completely undo it.

CR: COVID-19 --Political Talk
I so badly want Bolton's books to have some major bombshells but I'm afraid ti will be more of the same -digesting , everyday acts by the president which unfortunately barely move the needle.

So uh..Austin Subway*, Light Rail Expansions and $3.2 - $10.2 Billion
Put me in the ‘It’s a nice plan -perhaps even the best one presented to date- but it’s too damn expensive club’ Especially now. I do need a new pair of Wayfarers though.

Bye bye Luby's
When did the North Loop location close? The nineties or before? I want so badly to remember what that one looked like but I’ve never been able to place it.

Thread of local businesses that don't survive the coronavirus
With the exception of one or two, almost all the McGuire restaurants have been open for several weeks now. Perlas and Clarke’s have been booked up almost every night since mid-May.

Donald Trump 2020
I mean, I’m 99.99% certain he’s not 6’3” 244lbs. Now, maybe he’s 244lbs and 6’0.5” OR maybe he’s 6’3” and 284lbs but he can’t be both unless he doesn’t have an ounce of muscle on his body. But how does one reconcile that with the top licensed doctor in the US Navy. Dr. Conley isn’t some sleezy politician and it would be outside his profession to actively lie, right? Right?? Honestly, I don’t get it.

DT Austin Hotels
Sheeeeeettt, I meant to book mine yesterday but the day completely got away from me. Was really looking forward to something similar. I wonder if I can call and see if they can extend the offer?

Dang, those 7-day models sure changed quickly. Friday night, neither KXAN nor KVUE had any rain in their forecasts. Now it looks like 40-70% for the next several days.

Netflix Recommendations
The Epstein docuseries just dropped. I mean, we all knew what a POS he was, but one episode in and it’s already worse than I imagined. I foresee this reigniting the social media campaigns once again.

The Leftovers - HBO
I’m not one who has watched a lot of shows in my life, but in my somewhat limited sample, it wouldn’t surprise me if International Assassin eventually goes down as one of the best television episodes of all time. That was such a crazy sixty minutes of tv.

Texas Re-Opening Announced
I do most off my shopping there and I was honestly under the impression they wouldn't let you in without one, until I saw my first unmasked shopper yesterday. I much prefer shopping in person but if that starts rising I'll jump on the curbside train. I’m at this HEB at least 4-5x/week and I too saw my first unmasked shopper yesterday. The irony is he was probably 70-75 years old. For the most part, the mask wearing in Austin has been pretty solid during all of this. I’d easily give our city a B+/A-

Donald Trump 2020
I’m sure it’s been mentioned here but Trump’s supposed taking of hydroxy is just a slightly different take on his ridiculous redrawing of the NWS hurricane tracker with a sharpie. That way, in a couple weeks when he (allegedly) still hasn’t contracted Covid he can proudly claim that despite his personal assistant, his driver, multiple secret service agents, etc., around him getting ill, he never got sick and it’s all thanks to the hydroxy. Once again he’ll be right and the medical professionals were all wrong. It’s a simple game he plays. When the incessant lying doesn’t work, create fake scenarios around him to trick his mind, and in in turn, the minds of his 42%.
