I love Fred's. I've been eating there for years. The decline started before COVID and all the service industry troubles. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
I went to Angelo's not long ago. I've got fond memories of going with my old man when I was a kid. Pretty much what I remembered, but they changed the bun they use. I got a good old chopped sandwich and the bun had a sweetness to it that did not go well with the chopped beef and standard fixings. Not a fan of the change. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
Had the Willow Park Hot Chicks for lunch. My wife went to get it and had to wait a good thirty minutes, but they gave her a free margarita and $5 off for next time. I had the medium heat and it was pretty hot. Kind of a slow build up and after a littlewhileyou realize this shit is hot. The tenders are freaking big too. The combo came with three and that was plenty. I really enjoyed the fries. Overall, it wasn't amazing but it was far from bad. I'm sure we'll have it again at some point. (Gotta use that $5 off at least!)
I think I ate there a few times in the late 90s either before or after a movie or because the wait was too long at the place I really wanted to eat. I don't remember it being bad, but I don't remember particularly liking it either.
Well this is cool. I've never been to the one in the Stockyards, but at least this is something interesting instead of just another "cafe" that will he gone in 3 months.
I think the space used to be multiple lots, one was used car lot, and one was a barber shop. I don't remember the key place but it easily could have been there too.
Oh come on, I'm sure people have been really looking forward to searching for a street spot and then hiking a few blocks in the heat for a $19.00 plate a beans for breakfast.
I read a brief interview somewhere about it, might have been Texas Monthly but I can't remember, and I think he said he might get back to BBQ at some point.
I tried the restaurant inside the stove shop early on in the quarantine because they had a street taco special on their Facebook page that looked good. It was shit and they were not even remotely interested in my business. I haven't seen their sign since the orange trailer has been there so I bet they are done.
It's the Frank Kent kids isn't it? They have that wine place next to the Magnolia location don't they? I think it was in the newspaper articles back when they were finally moving from the truck to the new location. (I could be completely wrong and making this up entirely)
I genuinely enjoyed BBQ on the Brazos when I would go down to Cresson so I was excited when they moved up to Ft Worth. When I stopped in to the new location the food was bad. Not just okay, or "meh," but bad. Hopefully the move back will work out for them but I doubt I'll be stopping by anytime soon.
