  1. How was the east side?
  2. Nearly ten feet in a week!?
  3. For those who care, this was the vibe in that part of the Alps during the 2018 ski season: Zermatt: Snow cuts off Swiss ski resort for second time i...Deep snowdrifts isolate thousands in Zermatt and some other high Alpine resorts.Yes, there was tons of snow that year... on bluebird days it was amazing. On other days... Not ideal when dropping into glacial terrain... unless you have a guide who knows the mountain like the back of his hand Uploading Attachment...
  4. I was kind of like, "well hey, congratulations?" Here's what I saw on Reddit... seems mostly right except for the comment about A&M. No one is better off going there. UT knows that most kids who get CAP’d won’t accept their offer, so they’re able CAP a whole bunch of students. On top of that, they limit the number of CAP students they allow at each UT system school (UT Arlington and San Antonio get all their spots filled very quickly), so that’s another factor discouraging students from committing to CAP. Doing CAP with the hopes of getting into McCombs or Cockrell is pretty unrealistic. It happens occasionally and I believe CAP students may have an advantage over typical transfer students, but it’s still super rare and risky. My understanding of CAP is that you’re committing a year of your education to a school you don’t want to go to and taking classes that may or may not fit your desired major, all just for an unspecified spot in COLA (COLA has some very good majors like psych, gov, and econ, but those are probably competitive among CAP students). If you want to do business or stem and got CAP’d, it’s probably better just to go to A&M or UTD.
  5. Man, what a beautiful message of love!? Seriously... they think this works? Oh yeah, who doesn't want to be part of that. "Austin is whiter than Dallas, but it's not more white bread than Dallas. There's a distinction and a difference." - @Samson's Wig correcto. I mean just look at the Austin music scene compared to any other city in Texas. "Austin ain't have no music scene since SRV passed away..." said by anyone who sits at home watching TV instead of going to live shows all the time.
  6. Why were they backcountry skiing after a massive dump? Someone's about to get sued for leading them out there. Snow rates of 3" - 4" per hour in avalanche terrain? Not smart. This was a big one in Courmayeur this past week... The skiers that were seen in the avalanche location is down here (red marker) We took this picture in 2018 at the top of the Val Veny lift (see top right corner) from above that little valley. You can see below it was a GREAT snow year (this was March). At one point earlier in the season they had to shut down the road into Zermatt because of the avalanche risk. Similar to this year. Anyway, I remember sitting out there and watching avalanches from across the valley. You can see from the pic and the map below the steepness of the terrain. The area is a freeriding paradise but comes with clear risks. I did some under the Cresta d'Arp cable car by myself and in retrospect was maybe not the smartest move but I was fine. The views that day were stupid beautiful. Take you and four of your friends for guided skiing of incredible terrain for only 550 Euros... (total) plus some tickets for trains, etc. https://www.powrock.com/sp/en/ei/punta-helbronner-off-piste-skiing.3sp?srsltid=AfmBOop5T0nO0dGXWcVNmGT7FjtkA12-I28ogTS2uSWmtMQGF-5AuP8N
  7. Ooofff... Montezuma lifts just sitting quiet. At what point / what base does it take for the bowl to open?
  8. I have one of those tripod LED lights in our garage for when plants have to be stored in there during a hard freeze. Maybe I should use it more for herbs like Basil in the wintertime.
  9. Checked it out this past weekend with my son - did all of Town Lake with a detour to follow the Marathon. Lots of people out there enjoying a beautiful day.
  10. Speaking of my son getting Capped... https://www.reddit.com/r/UTAdmissions/s/gJ8UgcZ9Bc
  11. Cosmic definitely has food. If you're hungry later during the show, there is a dude who sells legit hot dogs inside the Scoot Inn. Lots of other stuff nearby up on east 6th - all walkable. Lots of great places esp if you want a good cocktail.
  12. Saved yourself anywhere from $180 to crazy dollars. Make sure to get a pre-show or post-show drink next door at Cosmic Saltillo.
  13. I would stay on the east side or the south Congress area but it sounds like my response may be late?
