Word on the street is that Erickson is heading west to be closer to home. I agree, she would be a nice fit at C/1B and she has a big power bat as well.
agreed, I think Brandon and Quiroga can both bring pop to the line up, but not sure how we get them all on the field at the same time. My guess is that Cimusz becomes the odd girl out, and between 1B and DH you can get two good bats in the order.....but as we saw last year, it's hard to hide a defensive liability anymore.
Of course she is. Mike White has got to recruit or develop some power bats. We can score a lot of runs with our speed, but every once in a while, a 3 run bomb would be nice. I think Atwood will hit 15-20 next year, but that's it for power in the line up.
Vawter is a really good pitcher, but I don't see OU as a fit for her. As previously mentioned, Patty prefers swing and miss pitchers over drop ball pitchers who live and die with the ground ball. Has anyone heard any names that Texas may be chasing in the portal? We need a couple of legit power bats in the middle of the order, to complitment all this speed. Ideally, they would play 1st or 3rd base. The kid from Indiana is intriguing, but I haven't seen any interest there.
There are other schools that can compete with OU, but they won’t until they commit their attentions and resources towards the sport the way the Sooners have. They have the best coach, the best players, the best NIL, the best exposure and they are building new facilities. No one else is making that type commitment.
After I posted this, Coach White basically said the same thing, that girls quit fighting. This was not even remotely close to the same fire and intensity they played with in Austin.
Not real sure what happened to this team in Knoxville. They looked like the group that showed up in Clearwater last year. Most of th appeared uninterested.
This is the answer. Ford was a weird hire in my opinion. aTm has some of the best facilities in the country and could have money whipped almost any coach and yet they got Ford….and then, as you said, 1/2 of ASU’s team jumps in the portal and she gets none of them. Mike White is considered a hard ass, but half the ducks team followed him to Texas.
Bri Ellis of Auburn just entered the portal as a soph. She is from the Houston area and is a 1B with huge power. I believe she has 30 HR in her two years at Auburn. This is a player that Mike should be salivating over. Plug her in defensively and let her bat go to work behind all that speed at the top of the order.
They big mad. The home plate ump has been squeezing both teams all day. The ags asst coach got thrown out to keep his pitcher from getting tossed. Mike had surprisingly held his composure….of cours a big lead helps with that.
Guessing we throw Morgan and Czech today. Both should be well rested and ready. Just need the bats to show up, score a couple early and put all the pressure on the ags.
Came here to post this exact thing. When it is right, that is the best change in the country. Ask any high level player what’s the hardest pitch to hit and everyone of them will say change up or rise ball.
She is a smooth talker and comes across well to the players. However, she will turn on you on a dime when things don't go her way, and she fosters bickering and in fighting among her roster. Often picking favorites and forcing others to leave. Before the portal, she was know for making a player's life miserable, and then blocking where she could transfer to. In one case, completely blocking all schools in the players home state.
I'm not sure why players continue to go there. The facilities are nice, but Baton Rouge is a shithole in general.
