yep, that rumor has been floating around for a couple of weeks. i've been assuming it's true and am not mad about it.
COYS! let's go get this trophy and send ange on his way with his second season streak in tact.
ha. i was typing something similar about the lineup and we scored before i could post. amazing what opens up when you don't go down inside of 10 minutes.
3 months to see out this season? sure. we're already doing that. if those 3 months stretch into 2025/26, it's a no for me dawg.
same story today. individual errors. trouble defending set pieces. dumb giveaways in dangerous areas. nonsensical substitutions. it's who we are (and will be) under ange mate.
this has been my issue with ange, particularly during the height of the injury crisis in january when most here wanted to blame the struggles primarily on failings of the front office to properly back him. even if you've got an F1 you're not going to win many races if your driver can't or won't negotiate the turns.
agreed and this is probably what needs to happen. for all of the valid points that have been made about this season’s injuries, the way the club is run or how levy and ownership support the manager, i dont know what anyone has seen from ange on balance that says he’s the guy.
we had andros townsend, ryan mason and danny rose in those early poch teams as well. poch made it a point to focus on academy development/promotion when he got here.
i dunno. maybe think about changing your style of play so it doesn’t require all out effort from your already gassed and depleted team to be successful?
back 3 today? cool. but you’ve got acres of space in midfield because we keep pressing and can’t recover, leaving a depleted back line repeatedly exposed.
injuries are a big part of the story but ange’s stubbornness shouldn’t be ignored.
i still don't understand why they extended forster in the middle of last season vs. letting his contract expire and bringing in a new keeper in the summer.
and i laugh at the people who keep insisting the ONLY thing the club needs is an overhaul. spurs are never going to spend like other clubs while levy and ENIC are in charge, and IMO ange needs to figure out a way to adjust his system for the players we have in the current squad so we don’t keep dropping points and miss out on the additional funds that come from european qualification.
so trust ange - fine. his track record suggests he is not a fraud, but consistently saying, “it is what it is” without even feigning an attempt at something different in the short term raises questions.
spurs had the 4th-highest spend (5th highest net-spend) in the summer transfer window. and we were all generally excited about the squad makeup before the season.
keep spending money to overhaul the squad, sure. but it isn’t just about spending money.
i
this is why. a good manager needs to be able and willing to tactically adjust to what the game and opponent are giving him. ange doesn’t do that. do you chalk the consistent defensive lapses and issues defending set pieces to injuries/depth?
i don’t disagree with the other points you made, but allowing him to just continue on in this manner also signals that we arent a serious club.
