I do my absolute best not to pile in on painful loss convos, but for me the what ifs in that game are the screen play to end the half, Gunner Helm getting a taunting penalty for pointing at Caleb Downs, and Wingo blocking the wrong guy on the pitch TFL (I'm pretty sure that's what happened)
Here's the top 5ish transfers from each of the schools mentioned in the thread by rating (247 composite I think)
Here they are sorted by rating if anyone prefers to look that way
I'm also loving it through my one season of offline dynasty so far. I haven't played a game on the new patch but the game is so much deeper than last year's.
I'll withhold full judgement until I do dynasty with a new coach at a small school and RTG with a 7'0" 400lb RB.
I’ll play
Top reason for optimism: Moving away from outside zone improves week-to-week consistency. We averaged less than 40 rushing yards in our losses last year.
Top reason for pessimism: Interior guys are unproven in pass pro ability. The OL had two bad weeks in pass pro last year and it was mostly an issue of Cam Williams getting stunted on and our calls being figured out (UGA), and miscommunication/assignment issues (Vandy). As fans, we haven’t had to watch real interior pressure since 2022. I’m a bit worried about the Neto-Hutson-Campbell triumvirate there. Some of that is assignment soundness but there’s also reasons to doubt their (Neto especially) ability to hold up 1 on 1.
I’m not trying to make a specific comparison. Just visualizing and sharing some data about recruiting trends over time.
I agree that the OV data would be more interesting. It would just require a lot more effort.
Ok so some of the stuff about how we're in unprecedented times of national recruiting has annoyed me, so I pulled the numbers.
Random thoughts:
We currently have 7 OOS commits with about half the class in, so we're on pace to probably end up around where we were in 2023
Bijan was the only OOS signee in the 2020 class. I thought the contrast between 2020 having the lowest post-Mack OOS number but highest rating looked funny on the charts
Herman signed 4 OOS JUCO players in 2019, so that class would have had the highest number if they were included. Man, recruiting for Herman tanked after 2019
I think official visit data would be more illustrative but that would be harder to access
Transition classes are tough
Sark signed more OOS high school recruits in his first two full classes than Mack did in this timeframe (2002 - 2013). Hell, he signs more each year (minus transition) than Mack did in the classes that won the national championship combined (02-05). So, I do get that the modern recruiting landscape is very different for people that have been following this for decades.
Is that the reason Harris went from being heralded as a great culture fit at Texas to toxic in the course of like two months? That’s my recollection of the recruitment
It’s so exciting to be in (our third straight year of) a new dawn for Texas recruiting where we are finally becoming a national recruiting power. What a unique approach from Sark (for the third time in a row). Very happy that we are now starting to recruit outside our state borders (after doing so the last two years)! /s
Posted this in another thread, but for the purposes of obstruction, a defender is allowed to be in the base path if he’s in the act of fielding, not just if he has possession. The catcher was fine.

Just as a clarification, defender can be there if they are in the act of fielding the ball. They don’t actually need possession

Some are saying the Ags had nothing left to play for after losing to Mizzou, but that win yesterday was pretty important. It probably keeps them above .500 for the season. They were in danger of a 27-27 finish if they'd been swept by UGA then lost their first game in Hoover.
I agree with your takes on Riojas. Yesterday seemed like a fundamentals day. Throw strikes and let your defense support you (except it didn’t).
I’m not a baseball expert or anything but it seemed like one of the things that really helped Roger extend past one time through the order and be a quality starter (and something he has over Grubbs for those wanting to have that discussion) was all the funky stuff like dropping his arm slot and the eephus pitch. I don’t remember seeing much of that yesterday but I would imagine he brings it back in the postseason
I wonder if we’ll see Jonah come in for Will once the lefty leaves the game. Borba and Flores are the biggest holes in the lineup but Gasparino seems like the worst OF bat at this point. Might be that Will/Jonah split based on matchups.
