Listening to the OTF livestream and Bobby mentioned that we had a higher offer than Ohio State for this guy. Matt Patricia signing a 3 year deal was likely the difference. Bobby then mentioned something I was thinking yesterday - at some point the numbers are large enough that the differences don't matter as much. For example, there's not much of a difference between $1 million and $1.5 million in terms of lifestyle. It's not like the difference from 60k to 90k, which does. This is especially the case if you are a college kid living on campus. Of course if someone comes in with an offer several times another then that can make a difference (like $1 million vs. $5 million.) But that just doesn't happen very often.
"[Birm] Ohio State RB Bo Jackson's future with program is in doubt, as he is asking for more than former Buckeye/ 2nd round NFL pick TreVeyon Henderson is making this year in New England" Not sure if they are going by his NE salary of $840k or his cap number which is $2 million. Didn't watch the video.
I wouldn't say that Michigan is "embroiled in scandal" now - they hired Whittingham and he can coach. I took a look at some of the top portal classes, and they are full of players who did NOT playin P2 conferences. Tech's class has exactly one player from a P2 team (Washington). The rest are B12/ACC or G5. Texas pulling several from places like Michigan and Florida would be absolutely insane. That said, if Sark/Flood really don't have any backup plans for the OL then yeah, they're fucking idiots.
I'm assuming Golding hasn't identified the offensive staff to replace the people Lane is stealing, and even if he has there will be players who would rather play elsewhere if they don't like who he's bringing in.
Nearly the entire offensive coaching staff is leaving and it's not like we're dealing with an Ohio State here. That roster is going to be ripped apart once Ole Miss is done, IMHO.
He did mention that there are four teams still playing, and I'd have to think that Ole Miss would be ripe for poaching with the situation there still in flux.
Naw they going to ruin Mendoza regardless. If his agent was smart he'd threaten to have Mendoza go back to college rather than play for that disaster of a franchise. The Raiders have had EIGHTEEN different coaches since Tom Flores left in 1987, with Chucky and Art Shell each serving two tenures there. This will be their fifth coach since 2020.
