Card went stone cold in the 4th quarter. He couldn’t move the ball when we desperately needed him to. Cards shortcomings in the 4th had their defense disrespecting our passing game which shut down the running game bc we aren’t good enough a run blocking team to run without advantage.
This game is who card is, has all the obvious things you think you’d need to be a qb, will look good enough at times to make you think he could be a good qb, but then at key moments will absolutely stall and kill drives which will play a big part in losing the game. The qb and offense impacts the field position and defense .
PhoneWallets big KEYS to the game: (1) we continued to play soft coverage and it enabled a ton of first downs by tech. We were giving first downs away like candy on Halloween. (2) card is like a sleight of hand trick. You watch some individual play and think he’s ok or it’s the pass protection’s fault, but reality is he struggles to put drives together. Every first down he gets feels like a miracle. (3) we saw the return of the chicken and egg problem we had last year that caused us to lose so many second half leads. Is it the offense going 3 & out at the worst possible times, or the defense giving up easy scores? I don’t know, I think they are interrelated in some sort of way. But it causes a hard built lead to disappear quickly. Long story short: fuck losing to tech, that was a game we should have won. Can’t wait to get ewers back and I hope he’s the difference we really need bc card isn’t going to get us wins.
That doesn’t connect the massive amount of money generated by football to the players. What’s the kickback to the collective from the ad? If none, how to prevent collectives from drying up?
So the wheel goes like: 1. Players create the cfb content 2. Content creates tons of money 3. Money goes to AD and university. 4. Missing connection step 5. Boosters pay for players through NIL About #4, How does the money generated fund the players though? If it doesn’t what does that mean long term? Boosters just have endless money to donate to athletic departments and pay players bc they like winning cfb games? Do we give some sort of donation credits for providing NiL money? Interesting to see how this plays out over the next 5-10 years. Once the novelty wears off.
Texas Insider PhoneWallet’s 5 KEYS to the game: (1) UtsA used some fuckery to get an onside kick then more fuckery to throw a Hail Mary td pass, but after all that fuckery Texas dominated the roadrunners on defense. (2) Jeff traylor didn’t look as cool walking around on the sidelines as Steve sarkesian. Traylor looked more like an east Texas box face Baptist preacher and this gave Texas an decided advantage. (3) texas d made another qb look all worldly, this happened a lot last year. Soft coverages, no pressure, and we looked like we were playing Michael Vick + Tom Brady back there. What the Fuck? (4) Texas run blocking should have dominated more than they did, especially early in the game. (5) card sucks and struggles to move the football. We need ewers back in a hurry. Thanks but no thanks to more card.
It’s already time to give cristibal the scott frost shove out the window. Miami needs skill players bad. They need to hire a coach with swag not some secret service wannabe.
