Today, my wife figured out one of my in-law strategies.
About once a month I take a half day on Friday. On those days I'll usually go have lunch with my wife, BIL & FIL.
Driving back from lunch:
Her "I love that you spend time with my family. They really like you. And I like that you do that you make an effort to invite them."
Me "Oh yeah. I like your dad and BIL."
Her "My mom was wondering if we had plans this weekend."
ME "I mean we were with your family today. I kinda wanted to relax and watch football and baseball this weekend."
Her "Oh okay. We can do stuff with the kids"
about 20 minutes later
Her "Wait a sec. Do you do these lunches so that you can get the brownie points for spending time with my family. Without having to spend time with my mom & sister?"
I'm guessing it isn't a close out game was a big reason. If we won last night, ticket prices would be much higher as you have a chance to see them win the AL. No chance of that now. And losing always causes ticket prices to drop.
After 2 game wins there are three options:
1) we win the next two - ticket holder get full refund on what they paid.
2) We win one of the two - Friday becomes a close out game - ticket prices go above what you paid..????? profit
3) Astros win those two - Afternoon game + not a close out game + limited time to sell on a work day Ticket prices go down.
Lol - the only time I've ever posted on the Astros thread was like 4 years ago asking about parking and where to eat stay. Pretty much got the same result you did. A couple of people dm'd me for recs. I guess they didn't want it to be public.
Sorry, I haven't been to the new stadium enough to give you some advice.
That's what I'm saying. Seager is a superstar. But you wouldn't know that if you watched ESPN or MLB network. During the regular season the Rangers don't get alot of airtime. I guarantee that the non playoff teams of the Red Socks and Yankees, add in the Dodgers (swept in 3) have 10 times the promotion than the Rangers, Astros, and Diamondbacks.
Good point about Verlander. Rangers have Seager and Semien. That are #1 and #2 in bWAR. But you don't hear much about them on MLB network or ESPN.
Also, loved the Killer B's back before they moved to the AL I half ass rooted for the Astros
