One of my favorite things to do is responding to attorney emails from people like "John Doe III, Esq." and starting the email with "Hi John,"
  2. Yep, first kid born right before COVID, now we're 40ish and no chance we can restart that clock. Let alone afford a 2nd kid with daycare/insurance/etc...
  3. Way off topic, but is there a reason that bluesky videos won't play from the embeds whereas Twitter videos will? @immamac ?
  4. It’s absolute fucking lunacy. We’re fucked and I’ve got family members completely nonchalant about it all. I mean, I’m out of words.
  5. I think we've forgotten just how crazy athletic LBJ was in the early 2010s. To me it's a tiered list with him, MJ and KD, and then everyone else somewhere lower on the totem pole. KD wins.
  6. Wait... that's ketchup? I wrongfully assumed it was some sort of shitty consistency homemade BBQ sauce. WTF, more insulting than when people put A1 on a steak.
  7. Almost assuredly it's whatever DNC consultants they're still burning money on saying "Ya, you might galvanize the left. But when Obama speaks, it REALLY pisses off the right, so it might be a net negative. Best he doesn't talk." All of them need to go. Start with Schumer and Jeffries. At this point, a lack of opposition just means they're complicit as well in my mind. Go ahead, have another sternly worded press conference or house floor speech.
  8. Did not go as hoped or even conceived. Apparently I am the black sheep of the family now. I just cannot comprehend it. One of those real "Jesus... am I the crazy one?" kind of moments to be that soundly rebuffed, and literally called a communist. Thank god for my wife and son, but I feel really fucking alone right now.
  9. I haven't been this upset that I can recall. To have this happen, to a mother of three who just dropped her kid off (same age as my kid) and then have this happen, and then to have the admin COMPLETELY lie and gaslight the public and blame the woman is beyond me. I can't deal with this any more, but we're stuck. No easy way to move overseas. I just sent a group chat to my family members (parents and grandparents mostly... obviously...) telling them to defend their vote in front of the family. Fucking OWN it. Seeing this shit makes it much, MUCH easier to understand how people have become radicalized against America in other parts of the world where we just indiscriminately kill people, collateral damage be damned.
  10. Almost exact same age bracket. I was conscious enough to know that when I got prior promotions to being a head professional and then eventually GM of a country club in Florida, those opportunities would not have been presented to me if I wasn’t a well spoken white man. Not a chance. Anyone thinking otherwise is being willfully obtuse.
  11. Wife and I easily would have had another one if not for COVID and then daycare and health insurance running us $30,000/year. Would love for my son to have a sibling but we could barely afford it (just kidding, we couldn't afford it and suffered financially in many ways). As someone else mentioned... it's almost a selfish move to have kids in this country these days. Being born into a country who's days of the global superpower/leader of the "free" world beginning to sunset has not historically gone well for other empires.
  12. Jesus... you know you've been on this board, and it's former aliases, WAY too long when you see this and laugh, but can't remember the details of that story. God... it's been like 10-15 years hasn't it?
  13. Can relate to this quite a bit. As I've mentioned on other threads, I WFH in Colorado while my company is still in Florida. Travel a couple times a quarter for meetings/etc. I LOVE WFH, especially with a child in kindergarten, the flexibility is priceless. But I'd be lying if I said that even though I don't miss the commute, morning prep, etc., I do miss the people I work with and being in and around the office and the chatter. I'm fortunate enough to have a really great team that we truly enjoy spending time together. For example, our leadership team just visited the Philippines for a week to meet some of our remote staff that live out there. There's an undeniable intangible benefit to working across the desk from someone rather than just a face on the Teams call. I'd go back to in office for $240 vs WFH for $120. Now... if the WFH was $160k+, easily choose WFH.
  14. Who the fuck cares? It'd be like finishing birdie birdie to shoot 105. Already a shit round who cares how it ends.
