Gavin Newsom Recall
No. You can’t vote multiple times and the county is supposed to investigate if you do. If you vote with an older ballot it is held provisionally until voting ends, and if you vote with the newest ballot that one counts and all older ones are voided.

Gavin Newsom Recall
As you would expect, the only folks in CA calling into question voting integrity have been Republicans.

COVID FAFO Roll Call
Why is it always Oakleys? Can someone get an “Unvaxxed COVID Death” starter pack going? Oakleys, MAGA hat, truck nuts and a GoFundMe.

There is no Whole Foods in the Garden District. Is it the one Uptown or in Mid-City? Probably a dumb question. But would think looting is more likely in Mid-City. Honestly, I can’t say how impressed I am your kid is braving this thing in the heart of Central City right now. At least it doesn’t flood!

This came out a few years before K and actually ended up becoming a pretty significant documentary of a community that no longer exists.

I know CC has gotten better, but that is an extremely dangerous area of town in general. It’s blocks from where the Magnolia used to be. How does he feel safety-wise right now?

It’s also fucking stupid. NOPD has been in full force the entire time. Shaun Ferguson was on TV around 1 am and told any would-be looters to FAAFO.

I mean, there’s been a $15B upgrade to the levee system, and there is likely no other area in the country with such dedicated federal and state focus on hurricane preparedness- but yes, definitely. I’ve never understood how Teedee just accepted that the century-old pump system was shit. But we also need to focus on the huge role coastal erosion has had on hurricanes, our natural hurricane barrier, the result of climate change and human activity.- 2021 Hurricane & Cyclone Thread
From one of my favorite Pic (Advocate, whatever) reporters:- 2021 Hurricane & Cyclone Thread
IMO, the lack of preparation for evacuating people who don’t have cars - which is a lot of New Orleanians. Obviously COVID complicates things, but with the utter outrage 16 years ago over the lack of transportation for the city’s poor, there’s really no excuse. People in the 7th, 9th and 3rd wards and New Orleans East are going to die in the next week from heat stroke, dehydration and lack of access to medical care. Obviously they won’t open up the Dome again because of the optics - this time it’s the Convention Center.- 2021 Hurricane & Cyclone Thread
Needed 12-24 hours. I’ve been following NOLA Twitter reporting for the past 48 hours and it seems that people have been very proactive and early in evacuating - after the voluntary evacuation order was issued yesterday, people did wake up in the middle of the night to leave. Anecdotally, it looks like I-10 was packed in the morning and there was a big lull around noon. Yeah, there’s definitely the broader question of how to enact contraflow when these things always pop up so quickly, but all in all in hasn’t been too bad. Keep in mind it was August 28 when Nagin and Blanco said that this was the big one and we needed to GTFO immediately.- 2021 Hurricane & Cyclone Thread

Well, to be fair, the Dome didn’t really hold - the top ripped open, making it more of a hellhole than it already was. Katrina in New Orleans was about the levee failures. I’d wager most deaths were from folks returning home after the storm passed - Lakeview and the Lower Ninth, particularly - and were surprised from the rapidly rising floodwater from Lake Pontchartrain following the 17th Street and Industrial Canals, respectively. I’m not super worried about the levees given the massive scrutiny on the Army Corps of Engineers. With SW&B’s utter failure to fix the drainage system, however, I think there’ll be significant flooding, like there usually is, in Mid-City, Gentilly, Broadmoor etc. Also really sucks for the brand new Four Seasons in the WTC - hope they don’t take any wind damage. As others have mentioned, the coastal parishes are about to get fucked. Wonder how much longer Grand Isle holds on.- 2021 Hurricane & Cyclone Thread

I’m fairly confident in the levees given the backlash after Katrina. The biggest danger is flooding. In 2017 severe rainstorms uncovered significant problems with SW&B’s drainage system, and as you’d expect the city hasn’t done much to alleviate the problem on its own. Latoya basically shrugged and said, “This is a city that floods”, and now you’ll get a nice tweet letting you know you can park your car on the neutral ground.- What the fuck is wrong with you, Houston?

Same. He went on to note he would take the vaccine because he “was a 52 year old man that won’t get pregnant”, so he's still mired in misinformation. Reminds me of those nature videos where you see some stupid prey animal like an impala get saved from the jaws of a crocodile by a water Buffalo or something and then promptly continue to trot along the river bank, floating through existence like a jellyfish.- Gavin Newsom Recall
It was literally the French Laundry thing. They were already butthurt about the shelter in place and mask mandates, but the FL incident is what sparked the first petition. The second shelter in place only made it worse. So the reason is, muh freedoms.- What the fuck is wrong with you, Houston?
Jackson’s was a solid Saturday spot. It’s still there, really, as The Patio. At its peak, Vintage was like the Studio 54 of Houston. If you went to UT (and especially if you were Greek) you knew 80% of the crowd. I’d argue that it was one of the best post-grad bars to have existed anywhere in the country at the time, besides Smith Point in DC when the Bush twins graduated. True Recession millennial grads had their moms drop them off in the PetSmart parking lot.Football ... Basketball ... Baseball ... Other Sports ... Futbol ... 🤫995🤫 ... Gambling ... Movies & TV ...
