What a terribly weak answer from Harris. She’s always trying to say the right thing even when the obvious answer is right in front of her face. I have zero confidence that she will take trump to task as she claims she will.
I have no doubt that the democratic nominee will win the popular vote by more than HRC did. Wisconsin giving the electoral college to trump scares the shit out of me.
I also wonder if we will see a Bradley effect in polls. People know trump is a terrible human and might be reluctant to say they are voting for him. I’m not talking about the true believers but the right leaning people that just can’t pull the lever for a D.
It’s a bit early but we need to get organized and start funneling cash into the correct races. How good is polling for Texas house races? Also, how many of them are set up with act blue? Bucy, my rep, did a fantastic job in his first term but he collected donations through a different site.
Contrast this with trump’s reaction to tragedy. Tossing paper towels like basketballs, firing off ridiculous tweets, quick photo ops then bouncing. It would be so refreshing to have someone like beto or warren in the White House who genuinely cares about people going through the worst moments in their lives. The far right will find fault in anything they do but it will still shift the rest of the country back to valuing humanity a tiny bit more.
We should start a surly “PAC”. Not a real one but start a thread where people can discuss their favorite local candidate in a tight race, as a group we pick a couple, and donate. I bet there are enough surlists that would do it and move the needle for a person running for the Texas House.
I’m informed enough to know the guy in Dayton did that amount of damage in 1 minute. People like you want to play semantics while we scrape bodies off the sidewalk. You aren’t interested in solutions so fuck off.
If you are of the persuasion that people should not have AKs, then you have to come up with a plan to get them away from the public. Fully automatic weapons have to be registered and there are supposedly 638,000 out there. Nobody knows how many semi-automatic “assault rifle” type weapons are out there but the estimate is between 15 and 20 million. So, that’s a lot of guns and we don’t know who has them.
I guess Beto’s plan makes as much sense as any but it would be require going all in. The far right would go absolutely ballistic and I would expect the number of guns turned in to be very small.
If you were going to do this you would have to:
1. Ban new production
2. Do a mandatory buy back
3. Wait 50 years the guns to naturally decline in numbers.
Side note: this is exactly why gun nuts have been against a gun registry forever. They want to keep their AKs even when the become illegal.
I hope Bonnen sticks around until Dems take over. He is by far the most reasonable option that we have. The education funding bill was far from perfect but would have been unthinkable under a different speaker. Empower Texans won’t be happy until every student is in an unairconditioned shack learning that Jesus rose a t-Rex. Yes, it’s hyperbole but this stuff happens with state money in places like Louisiana.
Guys like Bonnen are actually the best hope for republicans in Texas for the long run. The more influence guys like Patrick have, the quicker their demise will be.
Beto is leading the way while the media refuses to call out trump to the full extent that he is responsible for this. The media has been looking for any credible evidence about Russia for years but you get a smoking gun in him inciting racist violence and all but ignore it. Doesn’t make any sense. The guy fucking said why he did this.
If Wisconsin goes red but the other two go blue, how likely is a 269 to 269 scenario? Actually looks really plausible to me unless I am missing something.

Beto needs to keep the rage going. After taking on trump and the media, he should make the NRA and how they own the republicans a big part of his campaign.
Yep, pretty much every country has every issue that we have other than one. Declining religion, video games, mental illness, social media. The only thing that separates us is easy access to military grade weapons so that our nut jobs kill 20+ instead of somebody losing a finger in a UK knife attack. Any politician that doesn’t directly address this as a gun problem is either on the nra pay roll or a complete moron.
I live in 31 and my sense is that trump will hurt the republicans chances there. Beto brought out a lot of suburban women and they aren’t going to pass up a chance to vote against trump. Bell county is the tougher part of the district but it’s only a matter of time before wilco Dems will outweigh them. Never would have thought I would live to see the day Wilco is leading the democrat charge but this area has changed significantly.
I would like to think that you are right but I just don’t think Texas is quite there yet. Unless something happens and it’s a national landslide, I see trump winning Texas by about 5. That would take a pretty decent crossover vote against a guy that isn’t really known or hated. I would have to think the number of people willing to vote trump/beto would be small.
Cornyn is a buffoon but he’s somewhat more likable than Cruz. What makes beating him seem more likely than the last result? Beto has to come back with a win and he would be an underdog in this one. I actually would rather him go after a house seat that’s more winnable. The senate will always be there.
If Beto runs with cornyns response as a major theme of his campaign, he’s running against a republican incumbent on a gun control platform. In Texas. I would support the shit out of him but I just don’t see it working. Texans (for now) are more ok with their neighbors being mowed down by white nationalists than reducing the number of AKs out there.
As noted on other threads, I am still a Beto guy. Quite possibly the last one left, like the Japanese soldiers dumped on pacific islands to continue fighting many years after the war was over. BUT, I’m ready to jump all in on warren when the inevitable happens. I made a mistake and wrote her off after the DNA bullshit but have really listened to her in the last month. Her policy knowledge is impressive and is incredibly consistent. You never have to worry about her changing with the political winds. I find her personality more engaging that I orginally thought.
Im ready to throw down the gauntlet with trumptards. Let’s put a high quality liberal out there vs the worst president in history and dare America to vote for trump. If we win, then we get a really solid, trustworthy president with immense policy knowledge. If we lose, then America was fucked anyway. We can’t overcome an electorate that would choose trump over warren.
