  1. Don’t let up, Dems: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/house-democrats-seek-access-to-jeffrey-epstein-birthday-book-trump/ House Democrats are seeking a copy of Jeffrey Epstein's alleged 2003 "birthday book" that is said to include a "bawdy" letter signed by President Trump to the convicted sex offender. In a letter to the representatives of Epstein's estate on Friday, Rep. Ro Khanna and House Oversight Ranking Democrat Rep. Robert Garcia, both of California, said the request comes amid Mr. Trump's "desperate attempts to quell public interest in the release of files" related to the disgraced financier. "Recent public reporting indicates that the Estate of Jeffrey Epstein is in possession of a document commonly referred to as 'the birthday book,' compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003 in celebration of Mr. Epstein's 50th birthday, which has clear relevance to this case," they wrote in a letter.

  9. Breaking: WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) today issued a subpoena to Ghislaine Maxwell for a deposition to occur at Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee on August 11, 2025. The Department of Justice is cooperating and will help facilitate the deposition at the prison. Yesterday, Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) made a motion for Chairman Comer to subpoena Ms. Maxwell for a deposition at the Government Operations Subcommittee hearing. The motion was adopted by voice vote
  10. He kinda has a point: NEW: SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee takes shot at the SEC in defense of strength of ACC: “The SEC has had the same six schools win the championship since 1964. Not a single one has been different since 1964. That’s top-heavy to me. That’s not depth.”

  13. Former Trump defense attorney Alina Habba was replaced as U.S. Attorney in New Jersey on Tuesday, according to a court order, failing to secure the votes needed from the state’s federal judges to remain, after the Trump ally drew controversy during her tenure for charging Democratic politicians over their clashes with federal immigration agents. When judges in Northern New York replaced the Trump appointed interim US Attorney, he was made the assistant to himself by Trump - the thinking being such an unprecedented appointment would not be subject a term limit. This bunch is incredible.

  16. Re: DOJ’s sentencing of guilty police officer in the Breonna Taylor murder. Federal judge says eff that noise: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/pro-football-focus-snubs-texas-tech-slaps-red-raiders-with-disrespectfully-low-preseason-ranking/ar-AA1IWw1C?ocid=winp1taskbar&cvid=687d7e5554274473849af929dd68a165&ei=77 A federal judge sentenced former Louisville Police detective Brett Hankison to 33 months in prison for the shots he fired during the fatal 2020 raid on Breonna Taylor's apartment. The July 21 sentence was in defiance of a last-minute request from federal prosecutors that Hankison receive only a one-day sentence. Western District of Kentucky Judge Rebecca Grady Jennings said she was “troubled” by the prosecutors' July 16 sentencing memorandum, as well as their arguments towards leniency in court on Monday.
