  1. Nina Rota did first two Godfathers and multiple Fellini movies. Hal Willner made a fine tribute album. (Willner has done a lot of cool tribute albums) Here’s La Dolce Vita Suite with Blondie and Chris stein pitching in.
  2. Saw Poor Things last night at the theater. Three couples walked out midway through. Didn’t pay them much thought as the movie kept our attention. Emma deserves all the accolades she gets and the three male actors were very good. This is the third yorgos llanthimos movie I’ve seen and so I was a little prepared for the wtf moments. But my date hadn’t seen any and she thought it was astoundingly but enjoyably weird.
  3. Warren Zevon tells it like it is.
  4. Someone mentioned Shiva Baby and I kept thinking it was an Indian American movie. Looked it up and said, oh yeah I did watch that. It had nudity but a different kind of Shiva.
  5. My mom went to a memory care place in March and is doing much better than when she lived with me. The Alzheimer’s continues to progress but she is physically strong and uses the outdoor courtyard to walk and greets the family members of the other residents with glee. The consistent social interaction with the visitors and aides keeps her emotionally connected. Her fellow residents are now in wheel chairs due to falls and broken hips. This includes the lady she used to walk with to converse on possible escape routes. And the guy she got caught with when they were zipping up their pants in the hallway. No better prophylactic than adult diapers. She’s fallen too a few times but luckily nothing broken. She’s been an ardent walker all of her life and that has helped with her bone density. She’s going to outlive her money at this rate and will have to switch to Medicaid for facilities. I have all her finances in order with beneficiaries designated on annuities and am on bank accounts i have been handled them the last four years. Should be no need to probate. She’s got some very small o&g royalty income that I asked (with my brothers consent) my uncle to see if we can send it sideways rather than down.
  6. The thing about weed is…that it smells really good and one has a tendency to see the trees and not the forest when one loves it.
  7. Been Down So Long, It Looks like Up to Me. Richard Farina. Candy. Terry Southern. Journey to the West. William Hauptman. Hauptmann’’a memories at UT and beyond from the 60s.
  8. KSU sinks a three pointer in ot to beat Villanova in Manhattan. With the news my mom will eagerly sing “it’s gin, gin, gin that makes you want to sin…on the farm” Legacy from her one year in Manhattan.
  9. My mom is in a memory care place with Alzheimer’s under hospice care. She is physically healthy and loves to walk and the place gives her access to do so outside. The place is a private facility so they get paid by her savings. The hospice company has a nurse that sees her weekly, a nurse on call and care attendants who shower her two times a week. When she sees a doc we have to make sure that it’s coded for non dementia reasons as Medicare won’t pay for dual care. There were competing hospice companies when we made the decision. The link below helped me understand why. https://www.cms.gov/medicare/payment/fee-for-service-providers/hospice
  10. Not a movie but this kicks ass.

He’s 15. I sure hope so. Interested in Corcoran who used to play at fcd until they froze him out because he wouldn’t sign a contract. Now plays at USL Birmingham. He’s not a physical standout but plays a position of need at dm. Got really good reviews when he was younger.

US beats Burkina Faso 2-1 in men’s WC U17. Second consecutive game where the opponent looks way more dangerous than the US. Plays France next to finish bracket play. France leading Korea 1-0 at the half. If france wins or ties then US makes it to elimination round no matter US-France result. US games have been on fs1 and others on fs2. With yttv just hit the button to record the tournament and then watch at your leisure.

  16. Rain gauge shows a smidge above 1.5” in 78130. It was glorious even if the rain god’s prostate got in the way of a good soaking.
  17. And the cool but philandering dad in Freaks and Greeks. Neal biking alone until he found the house where the garage door beeper worked. Powerful moment and close to home. After my brother told me that a kid was bragging at school about our separated dad going to the movies with his mom. I ran down to his apartment to confront him and he drove by with the lady and her two boys in the car. He stopped and whatever he said was unheard as the two boys made faces in the car. Parenting was over then and from then on it was assess and verify. The two future stepbrothers in separate occurrences ended up murdered and in federal pen. My dad and his new wife stayed married for 43 years till death did them part.

Balogun nets another and Gio got some minutes.
  25. Dressed to Kill. Highly stylized with nudity but kind of boring. Michael Caine is too good an actor to waste on this role.
