New Orleans Food and Drink Thread
I should think that the main presumption to be gleaned from my 2:46am post was that I was whiskey-drunk (quite hammered, actually) and fondly reliving my birthday week in (what seemed like) eloquent fashion, but...whatever. So...let's go through the bullet-points. Mid-50s. Clean-cut Rocker guy with a few visible tattoos. Wear black concert shirts 95% of the time. Don't generally give a fuck what others think, but I am known to be quite the nice person. Ted McGinley is a funny dude, but maybe not hero material. Dave Meniketti, perhaps. Been to New Orleans dozens of times since 1993. Always stay in The Quarter, but know the entire town very well. I love Cajun and Creole cooking as well as the debauchery, the music, and the grit. Always try something new, but definitely have old favorites. No Amex Platinum, but our Bonvoy Brilliant Amex is our travel card. I do always carry cash for tipping maids, concierge, musicians, and whores. Wife ain't the teasing kind. Only drink whiskey cocktails and Abita Amber (although I did have one decent Hurricane at Royal House). I never feel awkward in any situation. I don't golf. My best friend of 55 years is the only Aggie asshole I know, but I don't hold it against him. He's done well, and will be retiring from a Fortune 50 company in 3 months, so I probably will hang out with him more. Thank you for your attention in this matter. Not sure about your profiling skills, though.

Just got back from a week in The Quarter. Stayed at The Ritz a lot. First time in the Club Level (the old Maison Orleans, but remodeled, apparently). Totally worth it. No going back. Galatoire's has Weller Millenium at $250 per half oz for those that wish it. Otherwise, our dinner with Andi in the dining room was amazing. Big cheers to Heath & Cindi at R'evolution as well. Tracey at Nola Poboys was lovely. And EVERY SINGLE ITEM of the 3 times we were there was AMAZING! You gotta get it Cursing Murray-style! So was Shannon (also lovely) at The Spotted Cat (along with the Chris Christy Band) Honorable mentions to: Devonte at Royal House, Trevor at Deanie's. It was a good goddam week.....!

Texas BBQ
I eat (and drink) at the Dallas (Farmers Market) locations all the time. This South Texas boy loves it. Cheers!

Strangely scheduled trip, but I'm flying out Saturday morn until next Thursday for a birthday trip. Wife put us in the club level at The Ritz. Never been in that section before. Planning on terrorizing the town as much as humanly possible. Surly Happy Hour anyone? Perhaps The Dungeon at midnight?

No thanks. I only wear black Heavy Metal concert shirts. They’ve been blowing TF up for 50 years. You should look in to them. They are badass. I have maybe 300 of them.

1st Record, Cassette, CD, download
1st Vinyl purchased with my own money: Unmasked, by KISS. Also bought all 4 Solo albums same trip. Purchased at the HEB in Portland, TX. That was 795 albums ago. 1st Cassette...who the hell knows? I had some cassettes, but not many. I bought vinyl and made cassettes for traveling. 1st CD: I purposely bought Hot In The Shade by KISS as a new release as my first official CD purchase. Why fuck with tradition? Also bought Pump by Aerosmith and The End Of The Innocence by Don Henley in the same trip. Purchased at Sound Warehouse on San Pedro in San Antonio. That was 4,997 CDs ago. 1st Download: Get the fuck outta here with that shit.

Looks nice, but your dried Rosemary must be old.

Good call on not just dumping a bunch of Cayenne in the pot. Cayenne gets bitter the more you boil it, so you're gradually ruining your dish. I stick to Guajillos and Anchos in my recipe. If I wish to add the heat, that's what floaters are for. Maybe the odd Jalapeno, but I prefer to float some Serranos if I wish to up the heat without changing the flavor. Just sayin.....
